Relaxed. Checked that off List.

Well it has been a quiet evening in the ol' hacienda tonight.
My mom is at her regular Friday night card game with the ladies.
Dear Hubby and College Girl are both at work.
At the same place so at least the get to see each other.
And I spent some quality time just reading a book.

Now relaxed, it is time for me to focus on some household jobs.
Okay, Okay--I do all kinds of household jobs all the time you say.
Well what is a girl to do?
I have to say I am quite OCD about my responsibilities.
I feel like I need to have everything all done all the time.
And to second guess what may need to be done and accomplish that too.
I would love to change but that would be like telling me to stop breathing.
Just part of who I am.

I am glad God gave me enough energy to do this.
That is one of the few things I do not run out of.
Yes, I do get tired but I keep on going the majority of the time.
Must be part of the chemical imbalance I have???

So what kind of quirks, personality traits or life style do you have others do not understand?
Like I do not want my food to touch or be mixed.
Or I need things to be in order--yeah an order that makes sense to me but not always others.
And I want to make people happy.
You know what I mean.

Fess up and let me know we all are part of this "Crazed Mind" thing.

So what quirks, personality traits or life styles do you have no one else understands?
I do not like my food to touch or mix.
Or I have my clothes hanging in order and by season.
Mostly I just want to take care of every thing around me and keep it all straight.

Lesson One: Relax

With everyone gone tonight, it would be a great time for a lil DirecTV.
You know some put up your feet and unwind time.

I do not get to watch much of our Direct T V.
Maybe a show or two a week at best.
But it is nice to have when I am ready.

If it was not for the Direct TV then we would not have any reception here.
We just live way way way too far from any city of size to pick up anything.
And of course with all the changes now there is not a such thing as "rabbit ears" for television.

Remember those days?

Run, Run, Run...as Fast as you Can

Replica of a human hamster wheel, used in the 1700s to 'put the sick person back on the right track'. From the Glore Psychiatric Museum.

There are days that you just go and go and go.
I wonder how sometimes we can be on the run all day long yet not sure as to what it was all for.

Well today was that for me.
I have been on the go since 6:30 am and did not stop til 9:00 pm.
Yet I feel like I have not exercised enough nor pushed my body to do it's best.

Yeah, I know that it takes energy to do errands and chores.
But I feel like I should be out walking or doing some sort of exercise too.
I know I am falling behind on getting my water in and that is making me run down.

Do you ever feel like that?
Like your working at something all day long but not doing what needs to be done.
Yet, your not sure what it is that needs to be done?
Ok, too confusing--huh?

Pulled out her Green Thumb

My mom is a great gardener. She has a green thumb and can grow almost anything. I kill plants just by looking at 'em. Well my luck is that my mom takes care of all the flowers, herbs and veggies we have accumulated around our large front porch. She has recently replanted some radishes from the garden across the street. Just popped them in the dirt with a lil water and away she goes.

So I like to find her fun things to add to her array of plants and planters. Recently I came across some lil rubber lizards that actually hold plants to stakes. You just wrap their little legs around the plant stalk and stake and they hold it all up. Our friends were having coffee on the front porch and got all excited about the lizards we had there. Then mom told them they were always there. Amazed our friends wanted to know how we kept them around. Mom giggled as she said she just wrapped their little legs together and they could not get away. Aghast that she would do that they started to protest. Mom giggled again as she had to explain the lizards were not real. It was funny to see they had thought they were.

Well most of y'all know my mom loves to sew and has her own etsy show. (See side bar on left of page.) Well I think these decorative planters would be perfect for her. What do you think?

They seem just right to me. I know that it is always fun to find just the right kind of outdoor planter for her. For I know it will be filled with something green and growing in no time at all.

Thrown by the Holidays

Well the last two days have totally thrown off my diet and schedule.
I am working hard but need to constant that does not change.
Curves has been closed for 3 days now and that plays havoc with my exercise.
Saturday, CG and I walked on the local high school track and again tonight.
So that helps.

Glad tomorrow gets things back to normal.
Oh a lil weight gain as end of last week which had totally thrown me.
Then my "AUNT FLOW" showed up so I know where it came from.
Glad of that as it had me really upset til then.

So tomorrow back to Curves, regular scheduled meals, meds and working at cleaning for Mary's Bed & Bath.
Also back to sweeping the house, laundry, dishes and cooking and cleaning for meals.
I am so ready!

The Midas Touch

Midas had the golden touch.
He could turn anything into gold.
And that became his curse.

But with today's economy it sure would come in handy.
To have the ability to go and sell that gold would help.
I know that it is hard for almost everybody right now.
But some people may have just that Midas touch.

I bet someone out there may have a gold coin or two that could bring them in a lil fortune.
And you can check out what coins are worth by popping over to this gold site.
You have heard of places that buy gold right?
Well you also can sell your silver too.

Of course you have to have it.
So check in your attic or grandma's old coin collection.
You just may be sitting on a little treasure yourself.

To Honor Those Who Have Served

Thank you to the men and women who have served this country.
Your dedication to protect all of us is amazing.

I appreciate your love and honor.
I respect you for the time you have given.
I wish to thank you for your beliefs that are so strong.

You humble me and many others.

Life is Good

Today has been a good day.
WHY?
Because I have enjoyed sharing my time.

I have shared it with a enjoyable book.
I shared it with my College Girl walking, talking and sharing a movie.
I shared frustrations with my hubby and we both agree that rest is required by all.
I have been blessed with friends who support me in new ways I never expect.
I woke listening to birds sing and have heard them all day long.
I shared pets, scratches and stretching with my dogs and kitties.

Most of all I have enjoyed loving myself.
My rolls of fat and the inches I am losing too!
My bright cheerful eyes with the wrinkles that have formed around them.
And my mind that is quick, organized and full of imagination.

So today has been great.
And tomorrow will be better.

I get to share it with my grandchildren!
Whoot, what a life.

Ways to help CG study

As always, my College Girl has to stay on top of what needs to be done for school. Even though she is out for the summer there are still deadlines she has to meet. And double checking all of her financial aid too! That is a major job for us. Well today when she was popping around her schools web site and face book she found a site to help her with study groups.

First she found ME 201 MSU Homework Solution. That popped up a site called Coursework. Looking there she found her college listed. And a link for face book too. It seems that you can now go online and get help with different courses from colleges all over the U. S. What she first found was from MSU Michigan State University ME 201. Now that is a long from Texas. CG looked up study groups from her school. And there is also textbook help and you can read papers from other courses too!

She thinks this will help her this next fall. Especially with the face book link. That way she can find the other students that are right there on campus with her. Isn't it amazing what the computer and Internet can help us do now. I wish this was available when I was going to school. You know back when we fought off the dinosaurs and walked in the snow up hill. both ways.

Snore-More

One of those too pooped to pop days.
Have been up and doing all day but now after lunch I am ready for a lay down
Think I should get up and move but bet I will just take a siesta instead.

Winning to Lose

Hello my fellow bloggers. How is the world treating your today?
I am doing well. Working hard at working hard.
And I am still nursing the sunburn on my upper back.
But 17 1bs loss so far. So still making progress.

Today I am going back out to my Cuz's place. The one with the heart problems.
He has open heart surgery scheduled on June 8th.
In the meantime he is doing his own "Wild Hogs" road trip.
Him and a couple of other veterans are riding down to Gulfport Mississippi for a Harley rally.
So today I am going to his place to find out what all we need to help with his veggie garden.
And getting to feed "Boss Dog".
So over the weekend we should reap the benefits of his hard work.
He said please pick the veggies that are ready and take them home to eat.
That will be helpful with my diet.

If anyone is interested Curves has a special going on right now.
Sign up fee is 1/2 off with the first month free.
So your start up fee would be around $90.00 and include your first month.
Then just a lil over $30.00 a month.
So that is right at $1.00 a day in cost.
So this may help be you incentive for a summer workout program.
Of course if you have Silver Sneakers with your Part D Medicare plan then Curves is free.

Also I found a great deal for Alli.
Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, 120-Count Refill Pack
$62.99 $44.29
Eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping.
That is 2 months worth if you take 2 capsules a day.
And only .67 cents a day on cost.

Combine the Curves special with the Alli special and you could pay for it with what a diet soda cost a day. Hummm, I don't think giving up a diet soda for a way to lose weight.
I know finally something is working out for me.
Good luck for you too if your working in this area.

If you don't have to,
Yipee! for you.
How wonderful for those who are blessed with great figures.

Summer Togs

Well with weight loss comes new clothes. No, No, I am not there yet. But I was asked today if I had thought about that as a reward for myself.
They say that when you hit a goal you should thank yourself for all your hard work.
And I was asked if I had thought about the dreaded "bathing suit".

Gosh, No Way!
I have a long way to go before I step out in a bathing suit.
I love to swim, but not publicly. And I have not been to the lake in years. Even though we have one not 15 miles away from us. I would be so scared to show my large expanse of white thighs and red sunburned back.
But it would be nice to eventually look into.

I did find a place that gives me a guide as to what I might want to look for in a bathing suit. And it is really helpful. Pop in here and see that it will tell you about covering up large hips or supporting ample chest. It tells you how to hide problem areas and still accent your good parts. Wow don't we all need that!

I also found where I can see what is "IN" this summer. Giving me top picks in women's summer fashion. I know that we all want to look good while still staying on a budget. That works by knowing what you are looking for before you shop. So take the time to learn if you may be wanting a new summer look.

Maybe a new outfit would be fitting as a personal "Way to go, Girlfriend" when I have lost 30 to 50 pounds. If so I know I am going to make sure it is the right style for me and still way "chic".

So this is Life

Well all my bloggy friends I want to tell you of all kinds of new things. But nothing new going on. Just the same ol thing. Me working hard at my weight loss with exercise, calorie counting and meds. It is working which is the best I have had ever. Today I managed to get a great sunburn while pulling weeds in the garden. We totally screwed up in our garden. Not able to give it the time it deserved. So pulled up what we could get to and use and the rest will get plowed back in. Nothing but a major field of stickers really. Well we learn from our errors.

My lovely College Girl is to start work next week. Of course she may not live that long. LOL She just sat down beside me and is eating a bag of Hershey Cherry Cordial Kisses. And me on a DIET! Oh this will test my will power for sure. Well guess she realized that and just moved away. Actually everyone here has been great to cheer me on and help me in many ways. My mom bought me some "special" food today. College Girl has been helping me monitor my food and making sure I do eat. And working out with me too! Dear Hubby has been my cheering section on each new change. Giving me great kisses and hugs too.

Oh I will get to mail off my Favorite Things Swap this weekend. I am looking forward to getting it all finished and put together. I hope my partner likes what I send her. Of course all things are to be new which is harder for me. I buy more used items. Like in antique stores and resale shops. I love original things too. So I am challenge to send her my favorite things but also make it something she would desire. So, so, so hard. But too fun also.

Well I am going to enjoy my evening with CG as DH is off to work. Y'all have a good time too. And we will visit some more tomorrow.

Just Keep on Working

I woke at four this morning and prayed for sleep. Nope! So I read til six. Then discovered I had a horrid headache. Must take some sinus meds to get past it. I now need to eat (3 1/2 hrs after I woke). But the largest part of the day will be at my in laws.

My Mom-in-law had some stints done this last week for her heart. There was a lot of free bleeding that took several days to stop. She is now home but needs to rest. So me and bro in law are going to go ane help. I can do inside and he can do outside. I am going to try and recruit College Girl to go with us. But I am also taking my own car since I know bro in law is great about creating jobs and then "delegating them".

Dear Hubby is working a full shift at the store today. I am hoping to fix the Ahi Tuna tonight since it did not work yesterday. He had 2 hrs sleep between jobs so he crashed for the majority of the day. No wonder!

Birds not Ants

auntrene had left me a message about a problem she was having. It was. . .

"My biggest enemy in the yard right now are the ants and bees that won't leave my hummingbird feeders alone. Last year we had about 15 hummingbirds, This year the most I have seen is 2. The ants are so bad they crawl up the pole and get into the feeder. Anyone have any hints how to make them stop?"

My reply was. . .

"The simplest and most effective way to rid yourself of ants at the hummingbird feeder, is to use an ant moat. An ant moat is a small cup-like device that hangs between your feeder and your hook. Fill it with water, and it creates a barrier to ants! Many manufacturers also make hummingbird feeders with ant moats built in."

auntrene came back with. . .
"Wow Lynette, Thanks so much for all of the great information. I love the Hummingbirds, They are absolutely amazing to watch. My Daycare kiddos enjoy it also. I have a large screened in porch on the back of my house. I have little chairs and benches out there and the kiddos will sit for hours and watch all of the birds. The hummingbird feeders are right next to the porch and they will come and feed even with the wild hooligan kiddos sitting on the porch. Amazing creatures. I am going to look for a Ant Moat. Thanks!! Have a fantastic day!"

Well I went looking for a hummingbird feeder with an ant moat. Of course when looking I wanted best hummingbird feeders. I found one at a great deal. . . or so I think. This one has the feeder and the nectar for only $7.84. Think it is a good deal? Maybe it will work for auntrene.

Rainbows and Cool Breezes

I have been pampered this morning. My brother in law was here overnight. And this morning he made me french toast for breakfast. He is always so nice to cook breakfast when he visits. I think tonight I am going to use my gift of Ahi Tuna, rice, stirfry veggies and the mango wasabi for dinner. Share my bounty with family and have a good evening.

Double gift is my Dear Hubby is already home from his first job and has the rest of the free. Yeah! So I am going to actually have family time. College girl is here and I just can not think of a better day. We had a good rain this morning and it has passed now. So time for the rainbow and cool breezes.

Whooopie!

Well here is my weigh in update.

As of today going by Curves scales,
I am now 14 lbs lighter then I was 10 days ago.

So guess it is all working together.

Diet, Exercise, Alli and Symlin!

I Love You, Deer

I had just mentioned my oldest and dearest friend when I thought about her mother. Her mom was always the "career woman" when I was growing up. A single (divorced) lady who was an attorney sounded so exciting to me. As I grew I learned more and more at how hard she worked to provide a good home for her kids. And the most interesting outings for them to both enjoy and learn from.

Well in her "retirement" (she does not slow down too much!) she has a beautiful home in a country setting. She has planted so many beautiful flowers, trees and bushes there too. In the evenings they can sit in the back and watch the deer come up and feed. Now that sounds idyllic. Until you realize the deer do not have any concern to eat the wild plants or her plants. So now she has to think about deer repellents. It is not easy when you enjoy nature so very much.

In wishing to keep "green" and still have areas where the deer may come around it took some shopping around to find the right product. And we did! Deer Off tricks deer into thinking there is a predator in the area with the scent it has. And the taste is hot so they do not wish to eat it. It is safe to use in all areas of your gardens so you do not have to worry about your veggies. Also it works on rabbits and squirrels too. Gosh I know of some people that would love to have this around their bird feeders! It is also good for 3 months.

We live in Central Texas and deer are all around our area. You can see them come up and graze around our post office. And I have even seen them stroll down a city street here. I would love to have them around me more often but I would have to protect my mom's plants. Or else protect the deer from my mom. This product looks like a great answer to many people. Do you have wild animals around you? And how do you protect your gardens?

Surprises in the Mail

Well today is much slower for me. No wonder when I feel like I have ran and ran all week. College Girl's baby sister spent the night with us last night. She would just yell and scream when her sissy would try and leave her at home. So we were happy to accommodate her and have her as a guest a little longer. So this morning she joined us on our breakfast outing. Afterwards CG and I took some food out to Dear Hubby since his eating has dropped off. I then needed to get to Mary's Bed and Bath to open up for her. And we also picked up some food too. When I returned home at lunch time then it was put up food and flop down to do my post.

So like I said a lot slower today. No I did not get to Curves yet but will try this afternoon. I did have a wonderful surprise from my best and oldest, dearest friend. She sent us a gift from Omaha Steak Company. WOW! We have Ahi Tuna, stir fry veggies, rice and Apricot Mango Wasabi Sauce. There was also some sirloin burgers in it too! I was amazed. I can not wait to call her this evening and tell her thank you. Isn't it wonderful to get surprises in the mail!!!!!

Looking for Help for a C D

Well I do not know much about how computers run. I have said many times I am a CD-Computer Dummy. But I do know what I would love to have. That being a program or company that could access my computer and fix any problems it may have. Like why does it run so slow. AAARRRUUUUGGGHHHH!

As usual I do a lot of web crawling looking for products, items and great deals. Today I found just what I want. Proxy Networks that has remote access software so they can access my computer and fix what it needs. What a dream come true! Now this is really for companies. But if it is there for companies then it may not be long before it is here for the rest of us.

Proxy Networks is software that allows one computer to access or control another computer through the Internet. This is so they can troubleshoot, access files or data and collaborate with a their team. Again this is a business-oriented service that helps with function and security. It helps that there is 256-bit encryption which is the the highest in its class.

Well I do wonder when this will be available for the home computer. Of course we have some pretty screwed up computers out there. So it may be too much to manage with us CD's.

Symlin and Alli Information

OK Ladies, today I am going to share a little about my thoughts on
Symlin and Alli.

I started on Symlin yesterday at my doctor's suggestion. This is a "helper hormone" that was created to for diabetics. It helps regulate the amount of glucose and insulin that is released by the pancreas and liver when one eats. When doing the studies it was found that it the people also lost weight. WHY? Well it slows down your digestion to about double the time. In doing so you feel fuller sooner than before and for longer periods of time. I have found this to be so! Last night I had half a piece of beef liver, about the size of a deck of cards and 1/4 a cup of grilled onions (yes I like liver), 1/2 a cup of cooked carrots and 1/2 a cup of lettuce. Also a glass of cold water.
I was so full. This all could fit on a small bread plate. This meal was only 130 calories too! Now not all my meals have such a low calorie count.
Anyway, back to the effects. I was very full and did not wish to eat again even when I normally want a bedtime "snack". If you eat too many carbs while taking Symlin then you will have a nauseated effect. Now Symlin is in a shot form. That scared the tick out of me. But the needle on the pen is very very tiny. Both short and thin. I have not even felt a stick when I have done my shots. You take the shot 45 min to 15 min before your two largest meals. By doing this you will be able to eat much less than normal.

Alli is my other new product I am using. This you take about 15 min before meals that will have much fat in them. Alli works by helping your body not absorb all of the fat you take in. If you eat a lot of fat in a meal then you may have a "gassy" effect. I have not had any issues at all. I don't notice any side effects from taking Alli.

Now it is way way way to soon for me to tell you any results in weight loss. But I know that I have been working out at Curves for 3 months and have gained weight. Yeah, they tell me it is muscle mass that I am creating. I have been eating under 1730 calories a day for only 2 weeks also. I had a 2 lb loss during that time according to my doctors scales. Alli is suppose to help double the amount of weight you lose. So we will find out. And Symlin is supposed to help me eat less. I will be thrilled to find that this combined effort works. I am well over 100 lbs overweight with a bmi over 40. So I must do something and do it now.

Stone Cold Bluff

I am really competitive at games. I want to win. And I do a lot of the time. But at Poker I suck. I am never really sure of what beats what. Or how different games are played. I want to learn so I can add this game to me knowledge. So off to the web I go to see if I can find some help.

I found flop turn river. Well I am a flop at poker that is for sure. So I thought I would check it out. If you play poker online and with money then they do have Poker Stars Bonus Codes. I know a lot of people might want to have those codes to help them be able to play. They also have PokerStars Marketing Code here and here too, PokerStars Marketing Code. But they also have poker hands so I can learn what beats what. And a section on "tells" where you see how you may be giving away if you have a good hand or bad. Yeah! I need to learn that.

I am not sure if I could ever play for money but if I study then I am sure I could play for fun. Do you play poker? If not, what is your favorite card game?

Annie the Mom of the Year

I want to present the "Mom of the Year" award to our very sweet Annie of Writers, Witches and Words...Oh My! I hope you will go over and read todays blog that she has. Then you will see why. Poor woman has been in some horrid pain yet knows when to put being a Mom first.

Stabbing Needles in Me!

Thanks for you help and information from my bloggy friends. I am taking in around 1730 calories a day. Yesterday I did so much work! And I pray for my strength to hold out.

Okay today I went to the doctors office. And I have started the Symlin shots today also. Not as scary as I thought it would be. Oh ate a meal afterwards (as I am suppose to do) and feel so so so full now. I see how it works. It slows down how you digestion system works so you feel fuller faster and longer. Symlin also helps you pancreas on how much glucose is released when you eat and how much insulin your liver produces.

And I have one lil gripe. Last month at Curves and last week at the Doctor's I weighed 257 lbs. OUCH! Yesterday at Curves I weighed 262 lbs (a 5 lb gain!!!!!) and today at the Doctor's office I weighed 252 lbs (a 2 lb loss??). So who is right?????? I wanna say the doctors office!

Well what secrets do y'all have on weight loss?

On the Road Again!

Lovely lovelies, I am taking a moment out. Typing and eating some toast as I missed breakfast. My poor "Steve" dog is going out of his mind because my mom's "Baby Doll" dog is in heat. LOL We put the lil' dog in a baby play pen and she is safe from being molested for now. CG had to go back to campus today. She is being a tour guide in 1920's costume. She so has the figure for it. My mom is trying to nap, she drove to Abilene and back last night---left at midnight and home by 4 a.m. She is so tuckered. That is the 4th trip to Abilene and back this week. WHEW! I am about to go and exercise, late today as I went to check on Cuz this morning. Then off to clean the bed and bath. Next----take the whinning out of this dog! LOL No not really but it is tempting. Worse than a teenage boy scouting the halls at school.

WHEW! WHEW! WHEW!

Here is another quickie.

Never thought you would get a quickie out of me huh? LOL!

Ok, diet, exercise, clean and more.
Cousin made it to a room out of ICU last night and bullied his way home today? I don't know how!

Tomorrow, kids to school, roommate to work, check on cousin, then....
some how work out,
keep diet,
see if cuz needs to go to Temple to VA doctor?
Finish laundry for Mary's B & B.
Do more laundry here,
Still need to put up all of CG's stuff from dorm room.

Juls, pray for me to have energy please.
Nessa thanks for helping me stay on track.
CG thanks for helping me out so much.

READERS, THANK YOU for sticking around when I am so behind in checking out everyone's blogs!!!!!!!!!!!

Breaking Out All Over

Well this is my new plan for weight loss. I have to do something and do it now. I can not keep going up and up and up in weight.

So daily I plan on tracking all I eat at:
Thanks to my-calorie-counter.com

This is a free site where you can record all your food, water and exercise. It will show how many calories you have taken in and how many you have burned too!

And attending my Curves workout 3-5 times a week too!
Thanks to Curves.com

As many of you already know, I am attending Curves through the Silver Sneakers program so it is free for me!

I have ordered Alli to help me with "burning" the fat off. They should be in within a week.
Thanks to Alli.com

This will be new for me. I ordered 120 pills for under $50 by shopping around online. Free shipping too!

And with my Doctors help I should be starting Symlin shots next week too!

Thanks to Symlin.com

Symlin is also new to me. It is a shot that is used with diabetics. They have found it helps in weight loss without messing with your sugar levels if your not diabetic.

So for all to hear today,
I am 45 years old
5' 5" tall
and weigh in at
259 lbs.

Yes, I gave my weight to everyone!
Now it is up to me to reduce that number.
My goal?
160 lbs in a year.

Do you think I can do it?

All Dressed Up & Ready to Go!

Well this is the last week for CG to be at school. As a matter of fact I get to pick her up tomorrow! YEAH!

This last week has been busy with finals but the fun spot was banquet for theater. CG looked all around for a dress to fit the theme of Out of the Jungle. Of course many girls were dressed as "wild cats". CG finally found a dress she liked that was declared to be the jungle night sky. LOL

We looked online for formal dresses. And came up with this number.

Thanks to amiclubwear.com for the pictures.

We thought it would accent CG's curves and long lean look. Of course this model has much more on top than CG has. But we loved the shimmery Sapphire blue of the halter top matched with the darker blue on the bottom. Just like a late evening sky over the jungle. CG loved being all dressed up with her hair done. And of course the formal dress was perfect for her special night out.

We did find dresses that had the "jungle" theme. But they were not long like CG wanted to have. I bet they would have looked good though.

A wild cat would be in this number.

I wonder if this Zebra print would be "horsing" around?

And of course we love the beautiful wild plants of the jungle.
