Life's Lemons make an Award

And Leslie at Live, Love, Laugh with Leslie was a dear to pass on the Lemonade Award to me. Alas, as before I am slow to post. I will catch up again one day! LOL

Well we all know the saying. If life gives you lemons the make lemonade. And heck, set up a stand and make a lil money to pay a bill or too while your at it. We bloggers know how to look at the silver lining and figure out how to make it look good when it is copper penny. Taking the silver to make ends meet too!

I want to pass this award on with a lil different twist. I want to find out how you make "lemonade" from your problems. And give us a frugal tip too. Yes you, YOU again!

So I make "lemonade" out of my issues by:
1. Laughing at my mental illness. My favorite cup says "Of all the things I miss, I miss my mind the most!"
2. Using my OCD to help me clean my house, keeping things in order makes me feel good and my house run easier too!
3. I try to always think the best of a person. Now that was try.

And my frugal tip?
1. Don't buy the "Swiffer" pads. Use an old towel instead with some cleaner sprayed on. You can wash this and reuse it. I also find old socks are great here.
2. Do not use throw away items when you can use items that are reused. Like paper towels, plastic silverware or paper plates. That is money in the trash instead of your pocket.
3. Keep the large to go cups and do refills at the convenience stores. They are cheaper.

OK your turn.

Super Woman Award

I was lucky to pick up this award from Serenity a couple of weeks ago. Sad to say I was in the middle of crisis so did not get to shout it from the rooftops! But now I am here to say thank you. It is good for others to help remind us that we are Super Women. That we do things everyday that go unnoticed but not unappreciated. So I was hoping you would take this award too. Yes YOU! But I want you to tell all of us how you feel you are super. OK?

So I feel I am SUPER when:
1. My daughter tells me she appreciates me and our conversations.
2. My dear Hubby pulls me close to kiss me on my neck.
3. My neighbor and friend Nessa graces me with her super smile that lights up her face.
4. My mom accepts hot tea from me. She drinks it like she is the Queen of England having it as her daily ritual. I love watching her.
5. My pets all surround me and kiss my face.
6. I get comments from all my bloggy friends---especially new ones.
7. I sit on the front porch with a cup of coffee and listen to all the birds sing.
8. I finish my Curves routine, knowing that once again I did it for me.
9. I find an exceptional bargain or sale.
10. When I am given an award to share!

Ok, Your turn!

Wanting to Look Beautiful

I am sitting here this afternoon with a gapping hole in my mouth.
Of course, I am sore as can be.
I expected that. But it took 6-8 shots to numb my mouth before hand.
OUCH!

So now I need to take my mind off of the pain.
Guess I can go online shopping.
It is free and I don't have to even dress for the stores.

I love dresses. It is what I prefer to wear at home the most. And now I my wardrobe is shrinking in that department. No I am not losing weight. Just wearing out the dresses I do have to wear. And with it coming up to summer I really would love to have some more at a price I can afford.

So what do you thing about this one?

Thanks to www.simplybe.co.uk for the picture.

I love the straps for being cool and the length as a great dress around here. The black top takes the view up and away from my ample tummy. And the large print at the top of my abdomen is also very eye catching. It seems to fit my likes very well.
Do you want to know the cost?????
Well simplybe is a company that sells Large Ladies Clothing in Cananda.
And this lil number is $14.00 of the currency there and comes to $11.64 in US dollars.
What a FANTASTIC deal.
Don't you agree?

I really am looking into a way to buy some clothes from them. Checking into the shipping cost and the such. I have to say that I find it very hard to find pretty clothes for us BBW. But it seems that simplybe has found out how to do it.
Thank you for that!

Ok, ladies, let's go shopping!

Another Day, Another List

Well I am back to racing thoughts.
No not the Indy 500 kind.
Just not able to turn my brain off.
Wish there was a switch for that!
Thanks to Getty Images

Just hate it when every thing starts becoming lists again.
I think of lists of things to clean,
things to do,
in what order to do things,
watching that I do not have list of list.
Thanks to (ISTOCKPHOTO/HEALTH)

I know Serenity will understand what I am saying.
Home is not in bad shape.
Have some things to get done.
But?
Yeah!
Sorta like that--if it is confusing to you then think of how my head is feeling.
Thanks to wittysparks.com

Today I am going to Curves to work out.
Have missed over a week there.
Then I am going to clean Mary's Bed and Bath.
Hope to catch lunch with my hubby after that.
I will come home and switch some laundry.
Then I plan on working on my bedroom to get it back in shape.
Left overs for dinner solves that issue.

What is your day like today?
Do you have list?
Or are you a fly by the seat of your pants type person?

P.S. Tomorrow morning I have a tooth to be pulled so may be here really late.

Just Another Manic Monday

Back to being me again! At least that is how I am finally beginning to feel. This has been one very full week. WHEW! So where to begin. Again.

Do you feel like that when you have been away from your home? Especially if everyone else was still at home. I walked into laundry, dishes, messy rooms and the such. Felt like I was suppose to put on apron and just get to work. But was too tired to do it. Friday evening was just more of collapse and catch up. Saturday we all worked on the yard and house. Cleaning, planting, still laying flooring. Have to clean, clean, clean this week before the Crazee Scotts arrive. Yesterday I took CG back to school. We picked up her poppa and lil sissy for the trip. Finally made it back home and took a good restful nap. DH came in from work. Said we needed take out, so Sonic provided dinner. I did manage to finally get the dishes done.

Now this morning we have much awaited rain coming down. We need it and welcome the water. I know that if it rains good then I hope to get in the garden we share with Nessa and pull weeds. Besides that I plan on moving my hunker of a desk so I can finish off the floor tiles there. If so the living room will finally be done. I also have to get back to Curves and exercise. Easy to get out of that habit.

I just feel like I need to be back in "mom" role of caring for hearth and home. And still feel like I am in some jello moving time warp at the same time. BTW, I am hoping to see pics at Nessa's site. She had a Werther's Chocolate Party this weekend. YUMMY!

On my Front Porch Once Again

Hello all, I am home again. And ever so glad. This last week has been the most stressful I have had for some time. It was good to see my friend the Latin Lady. But I have had to do things that most people do not do it a normal course of a day. The circumstances are a bit odd in her relationship that has just tragically ended. Her boyfriend had estranged himself from most people including his own child. So this week I have had to find and contact an old friend of his and advise that she was the executrix of his estate and he was at deaths door. This is after a 2 year gap since she had heard from him. I also had to FIND and contact his daughter. Let her know from a complete stranger who hardly knew her father that he has been ill for some time now, has been in the hospital and is at deaths door while leaving the message on an answering machine. Not the way you do things. By the time she returned my call he had passed. So then I was telling her of that. And that she had to make two quick decisions. One did she wish to donate his body to science as he wished and if so please call the medical center ASAP as she is the only relative. And two, that his apartment will need to be vacated in one week and she is the one to inherit his estate. I felt so sorry for this woman. She did not ever get to make peace with her father. Never did get to say good bye and she had strangers advising her of a tragic time in her life. Horrid events.

Also this week I had cleaned my Latin Lady's home for her. She is a very ADD lady while I am so OCD in return. We had a meal with a neighbor who became very drunk and argumentative. All the other guest left and I was stuck cleaning up while trying to keep the peace with someone I did not even know so that no repercussions would come to my friend. My vehicle died and my DH drove 200 miles one way to come and fix it. He is such a wonderful man. The lady who was the executrix of the estate accidentally took my car keys and I had to find her again and retrieve them. Oh it was just really unreal. I was so stressed that by Thursday all I could do was keep my self from throwing up all day. Finally on Friday all was settled so it could be handled by the ones now in charge. My friend handles death quite well. She is amazing on the uptake. So I felt safe to leave her to her own resources and return home.

I was racing down the highway to get back to my family and friends here. I thank Nessa for helping keep all afloat here too. My mom helped with the house and meals. She planted lots of herbs for me too. How loving. My DH worked his lil self to pieces so he deserved all the loving he got last night. My CG let me pick her up on the way home and bring her here for the weekend. And I even found home made peach ice cream being sold on the side of the highway too.

Thank you dear followers, fans, stalkers and friends for hanging in there. And life will return to normal soon. Wait wait, is there a normal?

Lynette is Coming Back! I Promise!

Hey y'all, it's Nessa again. Lynette asked me to pop on here and say something. So here it is, something. LOL. Okay all kidding aside, she is still off helping Latin Lady whose significant other passed away yesterday. She misses us and wants to come home. All of us around here miss her and want her to come home. Hopefully she will be back soon!

~Nessa~

Stop the Presses

OK, OK! I can breath a little better today. I don't know how but my Latin Lady was led to believe her boyfriend was honestly at deaths door this weekend. Time to call in the executrix and the sort. This morning we meet with his main doctor (you know how they all have so many) to discuss the life ending issues.

SHOCK--SURPRISE--NO WAY!

He told us a much different story. Continue with treatment, some dialysis, and we should see a marked improvement in a few days to a week. Now he is still quite serious in his illness. But not so that we are to start looking at what to do to allow him to leave us. And a very good chance of a full recovery.

What a head spin this was. I am still going to stay here with my friend til next Monday. She is all alone with this issue going on. No family in the area and her boyfriend does not have any either. Going to work on organizing (I can do that) her house and some school stuff. Also make sure she is eating and resting too. I feel she is in for a long haul for this illness. Will not be surprised if I come back up within a month either.

In the meantime please keep praying and sending good will for this man and my Latin Lady. I also would not mind a little myself. Y'all have a blessed day too!

Life and Death and All the in between

Nessa thanks for taking care of my blog and all the great friends I have here. I am just popping in and updating as to what is going on. Prayers please as I don't think I can take one more emergency!

Well this morning as you know was harried. What with a visitation and funeral for my Great Uncle. Then popping on the road to get to my girlfriend who is dealing with her own tragic events. It was great to see CG for a quick drive by. She share half her lunch with me for on the road. So sweet. I drove all the way with just one potty break. You should be ever so proud of that. I am! And when I arrived Latin Lady was just finishing up on picking some things out of her sweeties place. We went back and reread the will. To make sure we did know who to call and where she is no longer responsible. You know that her sweetie was very specific in his decisions. Tomorrow morning if he is not responsive still then the discussion of when to go on just massive pain killers and sedation. Then to stop all life support. So hard to do even if you know it was his wish.

We could not find a good address or phone number for the executor of the estate. Looking on line (a fellow blogger at that) we found 3 blogs of different ages. And also 7 different emails. Well finally one of them worked. No idea which one did. But she called us and we started with the info that she needed and catching her up as to what has happened thus far. Then we went out to my car to go have some dinner. And the car would not start!!!! Battery OK but key not working. I called DH and he informed me he dropped the key and key fob in the water about 3 days ago. Well there are computer chips in them and maybe they fried??? So he then finished his second job of the day. And is now on his way to his 200 mile trip here to bring the other key we have. Praying that is all that is wrong. DH also found our youngest kitty, Tom Kitty, had been hit by a car tonight. So he had to make arrangements with our housemate as to burial.

I have to say as of right now I am on pins and needles. I am not sure what is going to happen next. And if the past 24 hrs is any indication than it could not be any good. My girlfriend, Latin Lady, is currently trying to curl up and get some rest. I am waiting up for phone calls from DH to make sure he knows where he is going. He has never driven this route before. I am always the one who drives in this metropolis.

Just one big pile of nerves who is trying hard to stay very calm for my girlfriend. She has enough to handle without any extra worries from me.

UPDATE: DH CALLED AND IS GOING TO WAIT TIL TOMORROW AFTER HIS MAIN JOB TO COME. GIVE SECOND JOB NOTICE TO FIND REPLACEMENT. AND DRIVE DURING DAY TIME. THANK GOD.

Is Life Safe and Sound?

I had to return to the metroplex where I am from today. I have to say I really do miss all of it. I just feel at home here so very much. Like I can breath better in this smog filled air than the country air where I now reside. Just hard to take the city out of the now country girl.

My last job when I worked here was as a alarm operator for a home security system. I really loved my job and I was very good at it. You may laugh but I do not panic in an emergency. Maybe after but not during. So I was able to handle the ones that might come up like fire, break ins or medical help needed. It was good to know I was there to help others when they needed it most.

Now I did not work for ADT but they are a great example of one of the security systems that are out there. I loved having one on my home then too. I knew that if anything would come up when my then pudding pops (now CG) was there that help could be on its way in a flash. And since we had lost one home to fire before I was already skittish.

But sense of mind was given to be by having the security system. Do you have one on your home? Have you ever thought about it? With the issues I have had recently at my country home it might be something for me to do again! Hummmm. Could be?

Blogorama

Hey y'all! For those who don't know me, I'm Nessa, Lynette's across the street neighbor and friend. Lynette has been called away to the big city due to an emergency with a dear friend. She asked me to let y'all know what was going on. I am unsure if she will be able to post while she is away or not, but I'll let you know. For today, she has asked me to guest post.

My name is Nessa and I'm a blogaholic. Seriously. I sit down and think "I'll just check one or two" then it's sudden;y three hours later. Bloggers are so interesting. You can find tips on just about anything, make friends, and find out that you are not the only parent with crazy kiddos. I think blogging has been a huge blessing for me as a stay at home mom because blogs allow me to socialize. It's not just me alone in my house, I chat with several gal pals throughout the day. I just love blogging & blog hopping! So, I'd like to share with you five of my favorite blogs. Well, make that six because you are reading one of them now!

Six In The Country - Gina is one of the most awesome, creative, frugal gals I know!

Hiatus

I am away and hopefully Nessa may be doing a guest blog.

Life has interrupted me by putting death at my door step.

I attended a funeral of my great uncle today. And he was GREAT!

And now am 200 miles away helping my friend with her lovers impending death. So please excuse me.

Getting the Joints Wet

My mom-in-law has had a lot of problems with her knees. And at 70+ years it is not surprising at all. But she has found a great upside to it all. Swimming! Spas!

Yeah, she was told that she had to do Aquatic therapy for her knees. And that she did. With a little hesitation at first. I mean who wants to pop on a bathing suit in your 70's? But once she started then it was a love affair. She was quite upset when they told her that she had to stop. Insurance only does so much you know.

Well we started looking into other options for her. It really was helping and she adored it so. We found that you can get Hydrotherapy pools in your home. Of course you need the room for it too. But it was really wonderful to look at what all they can do. And of course dream of the great relaxation too. Now water exercise in a swim spa is really good for you. And not hard on your joints. Many seniors are finding the benefits of doing this type of exercise for therapy. Heck I would love it myself with the weight I have on me. I am exercising all I can but some days my knees hurt so bad from the RA I have that I just can't do it. That is really when I wish I had a pool to jump in. Well, climb in at least. And think how fast it could cool me down during my ever frequent hot flashes.

Well my mom-in-law does not have the room for one. And we do not have a YMCA in our lil town. But there is a therapy clinic that we are looking into. Hoping that pooling our funds we can buy her a "membership" so she can continue her water exercise. It sure would make her happy and feel much better.

Free Tomato Seeds

I found an ad for Campbell's that I thought I would share. If you go to Campbell's you can get FREE tomato seeds. And also try and win a community garden for your area. You can purchase a can of condensed soup to be qualified or like me just take it out of your pantry. Or just click an icon to help contribute seeds at no cost to you at all.
grilled cheese sandwich served with tomato soup
Heck, I love tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. And we are currently trying to do a garden. So it seemed a win win situation. If nothing else you can help your young one grow a tomato plant as an at home project.

Colorful Dream

Hey go and visit at Crazee Scotts!
I am the guest blogger today.
I think you will love the story to say the least.
Let me know!

Special Thanks to Charity (one of DH's Bosses) for the lovely pic

The above picture is titled "Colorful Dream". And it is a dream come true for many people. First this is CG's baby sister Emma on her poppa's side. Emma is also her mothers only child. And she was conceived when poppa was 50 years old. Yeah! 50! Of course we all love her. Now on to my thoughts.

Fantasies twirl away in all of our minds. We dream wild things from flying to being a wild animal to winning the lottery (that we never play) or just finding that person who wants to hold us and keep us safe. And the dreams keep us sane. We don't go wild up and down the streets (well we are not counting Crazee Juls-lol). Having our fantasies we can take out our frustrations on those with out ever telling them. Or imagine what it would be like to be loved by another. And are we not glad of it?

Mine? First and foremost is a boring one but what I most dwell on. Just being able to pay my bills and have money for food and necessities along with some we can put up to save. Not asking much????? Well, I know many people are in the same spot. I no longer dream of that special someone now that I have DH--he is the one! Wild fantasy??? Hummmmm--now that is a hard one for me. I guess it would really be losing at least 100 lbs. (I still would not be small-but healthier).

So, what is your fantasies? What are your wildest dreams? Or the one you dwell on the most?

You can too. May be we can be swap buddies!

WOOT, THERE IT IS!

Ask Crazee Juls

I heard the new "blog" when it first cried out. "Read Me!" It was a small weak sound but was growing into a roar soon enough. You know how these new ones are. Look all sweet and innocent, suck you in with that new blog smell. Then before you know it...all heck has broken loose. You are there in the middle of the night checking on it, rocking it back to sleep for the night. First thing in the morning, you have your cup of coffee and fingers are clicking away to see if the "blog" has woken up yet? Then you start sharing pictures and information on how much it has grown. People know that your going to pull out your wallet and the photo inserts are going to flutter to the ground---as any proud relative would.

Well here is my first photo! And an invitation to go and visit for yourself.

AMAZING

This is the most amazing clip I have ever had the privilege to watch.
You must, MUST, go see this!

Susan Boyles

I am speechless.

Day by Day

Today was not a special day. Nor was it monumental. Today was just a day. A good day. One that your glad you had. Nothing amazing happened. Events were ordinary. But at the same time it felt like there was a sizzle to it. An energy that floated around the edges. I could name off the events, chores and even quiet moments. Not that it would explain. Fill in the blanks your self.

Today I woke at___________
I had a commitment to do ___________
My biggest chore was ______________
I was able to enjoy ______________

See nothing amazing. But still had a great gusto as days go.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

CMA, Burgers & Shakes...Oh My!

Saturday we were able to contact the Brownwood (Texas) Christian Motorcycles Association. Gerald Shepard (also co owner of Jerry's Burgers & Shakes) the president of the CMA in Brownwood meet up with us. His friend CMA'er Gary Smith who heads up their Angel Tree project also was able to join us. And then we was able to share a great thing happening here.

CG with Gerald (aka Jerry) and Gary.

Our local Dollar General and the one in the next town over (Comanche and DeLeonTexas stores) have been doing a great thing. You see, during inventory there is a lot of new toys and other items they have to "penny out". And most places then THROW THEM AWAY AFTERWARDS! But these great store managers, Georgia and Cheryl, contact us so we can pick up the items. We then separate, sort, mark and store these items for our local Santa's Helper program. Well this year we had so much of this in the spring that we have been donating to other groups. Like stuffed animals to the police, sheriff, hospital and ambulances for scared or hurt children. Or to local families who lost their home to a fire. And a children's home close by. But we still had quite a bit more. So we contacted Jerry and Gary to see if they too would like the items for their own Angel Tree program. They were thrilled.

So off we went to deliver items for them.

CG with a heavy heavy box.
Gary pulling out more from the side of the Durango.
CG pulling out boxes of bows from Grandma's van.
DH hefting two boxes at one time.

You see we had both my mom's van full and our Durango too. This is with all the seats laid down in both vehicles. I had already sorted the majority of these toys into boxes marked: boys toys, girls toys, infant toys, christmas, clothes, ect.

Afterwards Jerry invited us to a free meal at his business. Oh my this was an unexpected treat.

Located in Early Texas just off of Hwy 377.
This is a chocolate cherry malt. You have to try this. Serious! It taste exactly like a frozen chocolate covered cherry. You can taste the white stuff in the candy even!
Here is a swiss mushroom burger, chili cheese burger (notice the knife and fork), onion rings and seasoned fries. All was so so good.
CG trying to eat her chili cheese burger without losing the contents. LOL

We had a great time. Was very thankful for these men and their organization to help store and share the toys with children. Check out your local CMA's. Also go to the Dollar General and shake the hands of a group that shares instead of throwing away items that can make a difference to children with very little.

And here is one last photo. CG had two gum balls. One blue and one pink. We could see her tongue had the colors on each side. We tried to capture it here but not as noticeable. But love having her looking so silly.

Better than Label Makers!

OK, Ok I told y'all I was OCD. Right! Well my life would be easier if I could just label everything.
I would have the kitchen cabinets labeled. And my laundry room. And the bath room--heck everything. I like everything in it's place and a place for everything. Really! I am not kidding at all. Ask me where what is. Anything!

"Butter?" It is in the fridge bottom shelf left hand side front.
"DH's socks?" My room, dresser, middle drawers, top one, black ones in back and white in front.
"Spare toothpaste?" Bathroom, cabinet over toilet, top shelf middle.
"Magnifying glass?" Dining room, file cabinet beside freezer, top drawer.
"Vegetable peeler?" Kitchen, hanging on the wall above the stove.

I could have all the kids labels on toys and bath things. Also baby labels with the diapers and all. Yes I still have it from my child care time. Just in case. We have kids clothing labels to match the clothes we have in sizes infant to 4 yr olds. Oh and don't forget the tippy cups, bottles and kids dishes. I hope the that they make dishwasher safe labels????

And with CG doing an internship do you think I need to label her stuff. You know like when you do the church camp labels thing?

Serious, I am massive on the OCD thing. So let me go label crazy.

Only 3 days left in the Readers Appreciation Give Away.

Don't forget to enter!
And enjoy a cup of coffee from:

Mardi Gras in Florida?

Did you know that Mardi Gras was still going on? I didn't! But it is at Universal Studios Orlando. And I wanna go! Actually we had a email from one of CG's old high school friends. She moved to Florida several years back but they have always stayed close. Thank goodness for Internet and messenger for that. Well she called to talk to CG about her theater internship. It seems that a lot of theater students will get jobs acting at the theme parks during the summer. There is also costumes, makeup and sets that has to be designed every year too. And since she had been visiting USO during their Mardi Gras show she was all pumped up.

Universal Islands of Adventure is divided up into "islands" . Yeah, I just said that redundant sentence. Silly me. Oh well. As CG would say--On with the show! Jurassic Park would be a great place for CG to get experience with set design. Seuss Landing is a marvel of ideas to make costumes of all kinds. Marvel comic book superheroes have to have great make up. There would be so many places that CG could learn from. We know that looking into an internship is a hard process. It is nice that her friends are out scouting around for her.

I wonder how many people it takes to put on these productions night after night. You have the floats to create, decorate, maintain for months. And the complete "street" is a a marvelous set. Recreating the atmosphere of New Orleans right down Bourbon Street. So many actors and actresses (I know not politically correct wording here.) I am not surprised that CG would love to live in this type of fantasy world all the time. Of course it all comes with some really hard work. But think of the fun you get to have too?

And you know I would be all about the food! Yes, I love quick, yummy treats anytime. I know we would not be able to eat it ALL. LOL But you understand. To get to try so many different items. I made a foodie out of my CG. But she is still just as thin as can be. Oh how I wish I had those genes.

Well this is another aspect of what a internship may be for CG. Good thing we have a whole 'nother year to make a final decision. And find a way to finance the time period too.

Fresh Air

Guess who came for breakfast this morning. PHEWWW WWEEEEWWW! I have been dreading the wonderful spring scent we get a lot around here. With five dogs and a very rural town it is always time to play with the new black and white kitties around here. I swear they think it is great dog perfume. How I hate it! So once again our house is smelling less and less lovely. HA HA HA The dogs are "knocking" on the back door to come in from the fenced in yard. Think I really wanna let them in????
