A Day Filled with Promise

Gosh it is quiet here this morning.  Well I guess not quiet as not stirring.  Dear Hubby, College Girl and Granny M all still tucked away.  The herd of dogs have been out and are now giving me a lil serenade of their soft doggie snores.  Sitting here by the front windows I hear birds telling me to fill the bird bath and feeders.  And the wind is creating music for me with the chimes on the porch.  Not a bad way to start the day.

I am all cuddled up in my soft fleece robe and warm fur lined house boots.  Dreaming of a cup of coffee but not ready to get to making it yet.  Where are my coffee fairies?  Could use a few around here.  Other wise planning in my head the day ahead.  One whole day to do as I wish.  No commitments.  Full of promise.  Limits, yes....financial ones of course.  Always there.  But still ready to be experienced.  So what to do?

Well my family likes to eat so I know I will have to make a couple of meals.  And clean up from them.  There goes a couple of hours.  And not too pretty to look at right now.  A bath would not be amiss.  Deduct 30 minutes there.  Going to sit here and goof off some as that is my daily fun routine.  What do you say?  Minus another 2 hours of my day?  So 4 1/2 hours off of a 15 hour day.  Not bad....round up.  Still 10 hours to play with.  Garden gnome with wheelbarrow                                            Image via Wikipedia

Of course I could weed the front flower beds, rake the front yard of weeds, put out the sticker killer that I doubt will work, cut back the limbs that need to be trimmed, rake the fallen leaves in the back yard and clean the porch.  That would only take oh 4 to 6 hours of my day.  And is needed.  But gosh it sure does not sound like a day full of promise.  Wait wait....look again.  Yes it is work, needed work.  But it is also preparing for those beautiful flowers that bloom in Granny M's flower beds.  And it helps me enjoy those mornings of drinking coffee on the porch.  I love the fresh look when it is all tided back up.  Spring surely can not arrive if I do not prepare for her?  So yes, let's plan a work day.  So that tomorrow I can take a break.  Sit and drink.  Listen to the birds.  And think of the chores to be done.

Another Day, Another List

Well I am back to racing thoughts.
No not the Indy 500 kind.
Just not able to turn my brain off.
Wish there was a switch for that!

Just hate it when every thing starts becoming lists again.
I think of lists of things to clean,
things to do,
in what order to do things,
watching that I do not have list of list.

I know Serenity will understand what I am saying.
Home is not in bad shape.
Have some things to get done.
But?
Yeah!
Sorta like that--if it is confusing to you then think of how my head is feeling.

Today I am going to Curves to work out.
Have missed over a week there.
Then I am going to clean Mary's Bed and Bath.
Hope to catch lunch with my hubby after that.
I will come home and switch some laundry.
Then I plan on working on my bedroom to get it back in shape.
Left overs for dinner solves that issue.

What is your day like today?
Do you have list?
Or are you a fly by the seat of your pants type person?

P.S. Tomorrow morning I have a tooth to be pulled so may be here really late.

The Twins and I

Well things with the TF is not getting any better. The mom has been arrested and released on a charge of "her friend attacking her husband before any of this stuff happened". I don't know. It does not make a lot of sense. But the out come is that CPS (child protective services) has now been called in.

CPS contacted me last night to see if the kids could all stay here. They did emergency background checks on my mom, DH, CG and myself. And all was approved. Today a worker is to come do a home visit and bring some paperwork. I am not sure when. I am also not sure as to the length of the stay the children will have here. Also the dad's family has placed a protective order against the mom from seeing or being around her children. So currently my family is all that is to be around the children. This is getting more and more messed up for these kids.

Last night we did dinner and baths. Just explaining to the older ones that they were spending the night here. Placed the twins in our room on a spare bed and the older two in the living room right next to it. Today we did morning routine since we have been getting them ready for school here before anyway. Also they spent the Christmas break here too. So life was pretty calm.

Also today I helped CG start packing for her move to the dorms this weekend. We will be converting her bedroom into a sewing room for my mom. This will make a "suite" for my mom at the back of the house. She will have her sewing room, bathroom and bedroom all alone where no one else uses those rooms. Nice huh? I am glad as she needs the space too. We should have the sewing room up and in action by Monday of next week. This is something my mom has wanted for some time. CG is leaving most of her things here but just putting them up. Also she is only taking 2 weeks of clothes with her. She can come home every other weekend and change out clothes. (Letting me do her laundry is a plus for her.)

DH was in a tail spin last night with the turn of events. But he has evened out today and we are working on what we need to prepare for. Also planning on all we need to accomplish this weekend end. He will finally have two days off after working for 26 days straight. Maybe we can get enough done that he can sleep most of Sunday.

In the meantime I am gathering clothes for the children. All I had last night was the clothes they had on. I was able to get 2 to 3 outfits each by going to the mom's house for a little while. I still need to purchase some socks and underwear for them all this evening. And hopefully come up with more warm clothes for the babies. I should be able to get them from the mom's house tonight. Our dear neighbor Nessa has also pitched in with outfits. And she is taking in the TF pets so they will be cared for during this time. We do not know what will happen to the mom or dad now.

Please continue to pray for all these people. I am afraid it will get worse before it gets any better.

Time to Get to Work

Well today is December 1st. And it is time to put the Thanksgiving things away. Not that I had any out. But, figuratively. We have plenty to still nosh on for meals for a day or two. And we have been head deep in helping with Santa's Helpers. This is an organization that helps bring Christmas gifts to around 150 families in our community every year. I am especially good at getting the boxes we need to fill. Currently have over 300 of them and still need another 100 more. Also I am pretty good at organizing items that have been purchased or donated so we can fill these boxes. Only 19 more days til distribution for us.

What else? Well I need to finish this job of my dining room and living room floors. I have dragged my feet and dragged my feet on it. Oh and the housework has piled up all around me too. Lazy or depressed, who knows. Would prefer to go to bed, read a book and sleep til January. I also need to gather all the gifts I have hoarded this year, collate them, mark them and then wrap them. Then I get to stack them by family that they go to so I can distribute them. See this is why I do not feel the enjoyment that others seem too. I see it as a series of chores I have to do and accomplish. When it is all said and done what difference have I made for anyone? It is material things is all. I don't know? At least my hubby can feel good that gifts were provided to family members. I think that is the only reason I do these things at all. Just to please other peoples expectations.

Also need to do the monthly bill budget. That is always a frazzled feeling. Need to write my people that have monthly letters and get money out to some that I handle their accounts for them. Don't ask, just something I help some out with. We have made a deal so my daughter can have transportation. So I need to get insurance and tags on her "new" wheels. We found an '86 Ford Mustang Capri for her to use for college. Listed as a classic car so maybe it will be cool enough. LOL She is just happy to have wheels of her own again. Oh and need to crate this kitten that hubby brought home for Thanksgiving. He is going every where. And currently it is my computer desk that seems to be the most entertaining.

Well chores, chores and chores. So off to it.
