From Fat to Fit Give Away!

I reviewed the book From Fat to Fit recently and loved it. It has a great story of how we can all take off a few or a lot of pounds when we put our mind to it. You might also enjoy Carole's story. She has documented her weight loss and how she achieved it in a weekly diary form. Carole shares how she lost 41 lbs and 66 " in just 4 months all at the age of 59. Yes, as a senior citizen (we all are getting there) Carole made some life changes and came out all the better for it. She then shared this with others in her community, then wider in the state and finally nationwide. She even host an AARP site of Fat2Fit. I know that there is a host of stories of how others have also made the wonderful changes by accepting their own personal challenges. And I also joined the AARP web site to be part of the Fat2Fit group there too. Luckily I won an extra copy of the book From Fat to Fit by Carole Carson. And I would like to share the book with you. So I am going to give it away.

Clicking for Cash?

I was working out at Curves last week when I was asked How to Make Money Blogging. Well I

Blog What You Love, The Money Will FollowImage by gumption via Flickr

know you can make a little money with a blog. But not enough in my opinion to support an individual or family. But of course every lil bit helps too! Especially in this economy.

Blogging for Money almost sounds like a game show doesn't it. But there are many of us who do make a little. What I see most is reviews. Now from what I have seen, reviews do not garner you any money. But you can get product for yourself. It is very hard to review an item if you do not have the item on hand. Correct. For example last week we had a wonderful meal over at Nessa's house. And part of the dinner was to see how we liked the main course. She had used a new oil to cook in. Did we like it? Why? Would she use it again? This was for a review. Now what is the value of a bottle of cooking oil? Yes, it helps to have every lil bit that we do not have to purchase ourselves. But in the big picture it is not all that much either.

So the best I see is that with our blogs we can do Revenue Sharing. Yes we may bring in a lil money to help with a bill or two. But we can also use the products that we would normally buy to review too. Is this income. Yes. And would you use different ways to supplement yours?

Yeah, really, honest and it hurt!
How, Why,When and Who?

Well I saw this lil email that said "make money on Twitter".
I was interested....of course.
SO I opened it and looked at their site.
A freebie if you send them a name of someone so I did!
(Sorry College Girl--glad I caught you and stopped you from opening it.)

College Girl is Leaving Soon

Well August is just around the corner and it is almost time for College Girl to be back on campus. She is more than ready but as usual I love having her home.
So it will be a loving tear that will see her on her way.
This year she moves on my birthday.

There are so many things we have to do to get her ready.
The usual weeding through her clothes.
And of course the gathering of food.
CG never goes without a ton of food available.

But this year there is something new I am sending with her!

Sears, Roebuck and Co.Image via Wikipedia

Sears CampusReady is a new program that can really help us reach out and touch CG in a way that can help.
There is a Reload-able Gift Card that Sears offers for CG to use.
This gift card is distributed to both the CG and us, the parental units as she calls us.
We can load money onto the card online, in a store, or in a student shop at a local Sears or Kmart store.
These cards can only be purchased in-store, but can be reloaded online.
But this way CG can go shopping for the Ramen noodles that she seems to live on in school or even "school supplies".
It is pretty hard on her without any extra funds of her own.

But this does go one more step down the line too!
CampusReady on Facebook is another way to keep in touch.
Here is a Facebook application that Sears has created to help us and our CG be "Campus Ready".
You know how the kids all have Facebook accounts already!
So make sure you get this sent to them along with their new "Campus Ready" reload-able gift card.

New Program to Help Bloggers

I am trying a new program called Zemanta.
It was listed on Blogger as a great way to add links and photos to your blog.
I am wondering when it will "pop" up?

I have been typing a few sentences and according to what I read I should be having a bar show up.
No not one with a ice cold margarita.
Of course that would be helpful too!

Related photos to the blog post pop up to use.
Like this one...

It also adds related links to other blogs.
And useful tag too.

Have you used Zemanta?
Does it work for you?
