Whale Done Giveaway

I have been a fan of Ken Blanchard for many many years. He helped me with the One Minute Manager when I was a young executive. Well he has now teamed up with a great group of trainers to give us Whale Done Parenting.

First I have to say that I think we all can use parenting help. Kids do not come with owners manuals (and some should). And there is all sorts of ways to help children become healthy adults. Here is a book to share positive parenting techniques for you and your kids.

Here we start with killer whale trainer-in-training Amy Sheldrake, who is able to get a killer whale to preform amazing tricks but had a hard time getting her own son to do simple task. So Amy and her husband started using the same principals that they used on killer whales on their own son. Once Amy and Matt were able to get the hang of the five Whale Done principles, they then saw a dramatic difference in overcoming challenges like following bedtime routines, dealing with tantrums, introducing new foods, sharing, avoiding overuse of the word no, learning to care for a pet, and instituting time-outs. Isn't this something we all would like to have a handle on?

Well, we are going to share this with you too! Yes, a giveaway! You can get your own copy of Whale Done Parenting right here. We are giving away 5 copies, yes 5! To enter first and foremost visit Whale Done Parenting and look at their first two chapters preview. Tell me something you found interesting there. (This is mandatory to enter.) You can also have extra entries too. Additional entries can all be done with a separate comment for each for following, having my button, twittering, links on face book, sending others to the giveaway (they have to credit you) and blogging about this great giveaway. Make sure that I can contact you some how in order to let you know if your the winner.

Ladies and Gents,

Girl With Striped Fingernails Covering FaceImage by Pink Sherbet Photography via Flickr

Hope y'all don't mind but we are taking a break.
You know how it goes.
Stuffed with all that food on the holiday.
And all the time it took to fix things up.
Then to clean up afterwards.

Well we worked our lil manicured nails to the ground.
So now we are stopping to repair and regroup.
We will see y'all Monday!

Closed due to Illness

I do not believe it...but I came down sick in 5 minutes.

Closed due to illnessImage by drrt via Flickr

Yes, really!
From ok life is fine to fever, chills, nausea, aches and pain.
I was watching TV last night (NCIS for those out there like me) and

BOOM! BANG!

my teeth started clattering, my body shaking and cold all over.
And then the wave of

ON NO AM I GOING TO BE ILL?

flooded over me.

I ended up in bed with my pink flannel pjs on. Covers 3 deep and up to my chin. I even had a night cap on--honest--my head was cold. And then of course I started to burn up too!

BTW, did I mention I will have 16 people here for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow? Or that this is the FIRST time I have ever hosted a holiday meal for my Dear Hubby's family?

You know I just can't be sick!

My "green tip".....turn the lights off! And I only say about a hundred times a day!

I'm another SSS'er and just visiting the different blogs. Yours is really neat!

Hey Kiddo! Hope you enjoyed your trip. Of Course, you know my idea of being green. Collect aluminum cans, sell them, give the money to a good cause. It's really a complex idea, because not only are you helping to "clean up the environment, but the money you get can help any "charity" you want. Mine happens to be Foreign Missionaries. It is also a great thing to get your kids involved in, because it's not difficult, and it teaches them responsibility, and how to give to others. So many kids now days have the "ME" frame of mind. This would help them feel better about themselves knowing that they have helped others. You could even give them the responsiblity of choosing the "charity or cause" the money would go to as long as it is for a needful cause, you know what I mean. Something that would really help others. Anyway, that's my green idea. Clean environment, help your kids self-esteem and teach them, and be a blessing to others in need.

As far as my post, I dare not think about if anything were to happen to or between my hubby and myself, instead of becoming a "cat lady" with way too many cats, I would probably do the same thing with dogs from the shelter. (Except for certain kinds that scare me to death). Glad your home safe!

My green tip is to turn lights off, turn the AC up when you can or off and have the windows open.

My green tip: hanging at least a few of the heavier wet stuff (like sweatshirts) on the shower rod, instead of putting them in the dryer.
I live in an apartment, so space is an issue, but not only does this save some dryer time...it also saves the sweatshirts and sweaters from shrinking!

World Vision Gift Catalog

Here is my all time favorite for Crazed Mind's 2009 Gift Guide! The World Vision Gift Catalog. And I can not say it any better than they can. So folks, here is the best deal and true meaning of a giving season.

Through the World Vision Gift Catalog, you can make a donation to dozens of different projects around the world to help children and families in need. It’s much better than giving an impersonal gift card or a last-minute purchase like a sweater, and the donations can go a long way to promoting health and wellness in the developing world. These items make great gifts for moms, dads, grandparents AND children! The World Vision Gift Catalog is a wonderful opportunity to give great, inexpensive gifts that no one will want to exchange.

The World Vision gifts are a great value for people trying to pinch their pennies and please their loved ones. And they stretch a family’s “giving dollars” this year because, thanks to corporate product donations and government matching grants, many of the gifts will help provide much more than the $25 gift! A sampling of inexpensive gift items include:

- $16 will buy two soccer or basketballs for a child

- $17 will buy improved hybrid or drought-resistant seeds for a nourishing harvest and income

- $18 will buy enough bed nets to protect an entire family from malaria

- $25 will provide $350 worth of school supplies in the U.S.

- $25 buys two chickens to provide a lasting source of nutrition and income for a family

They would like to offer one free gift from the catalog as a holiday giveaway for you. The free gift is a Thai necklace. All you have to do is visit World Vision Gift Catalog and tell me what you would pick as a gift to give to others.

Here are the great links you can also use from Facebook, Twitter and of course to World Vision itself.

Facebook: www.facebook.com/truespiritofchristmas

Twitter: www.twitter.com/christmastour

Campaign website: www.worldvisiongifts.org

You can also do that one more extra step too. Pop over to hotelscombined.com. They are doing a monetary donation for those who also want to use facebook, twitter and blogs to support World Vision. Add the graphic below to your blog sidebar and they will send $20 to World Vision. Now that is easy. Spread the word through being a facebook fan and they will send a $5 donation. Follow them on twitter and tweet for a $10 dontation. That could be $35 of donations sent just from each of us doing what we do best. Social networking to help others.

I recommend HotelsCombined.com and sent $20 to World Vision!

You can shout and help too.

Berenstain Bears Living Lights

The Berenstain Bears use to be a staple in my daughter's book collection. And now I am adding them to my collection for my grand children. But better still, there is a new series of Berenstain Bears. It is the Living Lights titles that I am showing here. Now that loveable family of bears can also show how they have grown into this supportive moral family. From 'Giving Thanks' to 'Christmas Tree', this is a pack that I want to use during the holiday season.

The first Berenstain Bear book was published in 1962 (a year before I was born) under the oversight of Dr. Seuss. Now that is a great mentor to have. Parents Stan and Jan started this series and now their son Michael has joined the team. Michael grew up watching his parents create their magazine cartoons and later the Berenstain Bears books.

Michael Berenstain is now working with his mother bringing this classic series to a new generation and with a new spin. When Berenstain found Christ, he also found his mission: to reveal the much-loved bear family’s faith in an original series. Zonderkidz has released the following titles in the series thus far, many of which are already becoming classics:

Imagia and the Magic Pearls

Growing up the youngest of 5 children and with a large gap between girls (10 years), I learned to rely on my imagination for friendship. And it was in the places of my mind that I truly blossomed. There I could do anything, be anyone and have many many friends.

Well, now there is a tale of Imagia and the Magic Pearls. This elf princess also has learned to live in her imagination. Desiring to have other friends to play with but stuck in her palace and with her lessons she seems to be a prisoner of her own life. (Gosh, don't we all relate to that one!) Of course, like all of us, Imagia has to break free and discover the world around her. Tales from the Mapmaker will open up a new land of Trillow. Here Imagia not only wanders into a castle ruled by the evil queen Baddora but also meets her new friend, Flutterwalk. And it is here that Imagia really learns the power of her imagination.

Monroe S. Tarver, both author and illustrator, has given a new childhood princess story which he is developing into a series of stories. Focused for children ages 5-9, this story weaves in a new cast of characters, moral lessons, the power of imagination and embracing an ethnic princess. With rich paintings to surround the story, you are swept away to a new land of Trillow. And one that takes you on those unexpected twist and turns. This is a new tale that has been released just this month at Amazon.com for only $6.99. I feel it would make a wonderful addition to any child's bookshelf this holiday season.
