Gnomes 'R Here! Giveaway

It has been a busy weekend for us. Hope you enjoyed yours.  We traveled to see our grandbabes for their birthday.  Dropping off gifts for them, their mom's housewarming gift and the baby shower gifts too.  I feel all gifted out!  But loved seeing them.  And hearing my granddaughter hollering Nonnie, Nonnie, NONNIE!  It made me feel amazing.  She noticed I had once again changed my hair color and pronounced that it was not red enough.  Guess we will change that when she comes to see me in June.  I am looking forward to having the babes here then.  I miss them so very much.

I have a copy of Gnomeo & Juliet to share with them.  (It comes out on DVD tomorrow!)  I was so excited for it to get here.  Been waiting over a year to get to see it.  Sir Elton John worked hard on this project and you can hear his music all through it.  PERFECTO!  The story of Romeo & Juliet is a classic love story that is so darling set in these lovely English garden scenes.  I have the Blu-Ray & DVD set.  As a matter of fact I have a spare even.  Yeppers.  Sure do.  So I can split this all up.  One for College Girl (she has a Blu-Ray), one for the grandbabes (DVD copy works great there).  That leaves a copy to split up for you to share.  YEAH!   So I am going to give you a lil teasers here.  Then I am going to tell you how to win your copy.

First off if you can't wait there is $5.00 off coupon for the triple disc set.   Also in the film the gnomes battle with lawn mower races.  Never knew gnomes could be so redneck.  But they are not the only ones.  The U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (the organization that turned a weekend chore into a national competitive sport!) continued their 2011 STA-BIL racing season with the Gnomeo & Juliet Mow-down Showdown this last weekend..  Riders dressed as the film’s iconic red and blue feuding gnome families.  Pretty cool, I know that with my girth I could pass as a gnome mommy easy!  You can also let the kiddos play at the website with games, downloads and activities.

Okay to win YOUR choice of Blu-Ray or DVD of Gnomeo & Juliet you have to first be a follower of my blog.  You can do that with Goggle Friend Connect over in the right hand column.  Leave me a comment letting me know your a follower.  That is your first entry.  Extra entries can be had by doing any of the following.

Enter any of my other giveaway and tell me which one or one's.  They are all listed in the right hand column.

Earth Day goes to the Cats

I so wanna go see African Cats that opens on Earth Day (4-22) this year. I am such a lover of the Lion.  It is my sign and gosh I have always been drawn to the majestic pose the Lion has.

Of course Denea loves the Panther.  Dear Hubby the Tiger.  Seems we are all cat people in one way or the other. “African Cats” features the real-life love, humor and determination of the kings of the African savanna: Mara, an endearing lion cub who strives to grow up with her mother’s strength, spirit and wisdom; Sita, a fearless cheetah and single mother of five mischievous newborns; and Fang, a proud leader of the pride who must defend his family from a rival lion.

You can download fun sheets for the kids too.  Just pop on over with this link.  For EARTH, they held the program “But a Ticket, Plant a Tree” which led to the planting of 2.7 million trees in Brazil ’s Atlantic Forest . Last year for OCEANS, the program was “See Oceans, Save Oceans” which helped establish 40,000 acres of marine protected area in The Bahamas, preserving essential coral reefs. Pretty great, right?  During the film’s opening week (April 22-28), a portion of the proceeds from that week’s ticket sales will be donated to the African Wildlife Foundation through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to protect the Amboseli Wildlife Corridor, a passage between the Amboseli, Tsavo West and Chyulu Hills National Parks that is frequently used by lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, giraffes and a host of other animals in the African savanna. You can follow along on facebook too!

A Puppy Filled Holiday

Today we were lucky enough to have Princess Emma visit.  Along with her was partner in crime Niece Brooke.  These two daring adventures love to dance, skip, run, paint and chase the puppies all around the house.  Now having a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old to play with is quite nice for the first half of the day.  But soon the old folks tire out and need a much desired rest.  Heck the doggies do too.  Thankfully the mail arrived just in time.

Today I received The Search for Santa Paws from Walt Disney.  This was the Blu-Ray/DVD combo set.  Great.  Now we could pop it in and slow down these two girls.  I loved watching them as the show unfolded.  Bright eyes knowing that Christmas is coming up.  Getting excited over the cute lil puppies on the screen.  And the screech when Santa first popped up!  I think the following summed it up very nicely.

“Someone once told me that the spirit of Christmas is embodied in the hearts of children, untouched as of yet by the doubts, fears and disappointments of the adult world.”
--Santa Claus in “The Search for Santa Paws”

Yes, that was it.  These two lil ladies only see Christmas with all the magic it holds.  How I wish I could see the holiday through their eyes still.  You can share some of the fun with the activity sheets they made up.  Make sure you get your copy.  The show was just released on the 23rd of November so you should be able to find it.  I know that seeing the girls get so excited that this is a going into the Christmas movie vault for my family.  Oh and on top of that I now have it downloaded at Disney Movie Rewards so we can see it when we are elsewhere too!

DISCLOSURE: I received a complimentary copy of this DVD to facilitate this review. No other compensation was provided.

Princess Emma and The Mouse

Did you use to watch the Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday night like my family did?  I loved Sundays just for that reason.  What a great time it was to see a new Disney movie while all the family was gathered together.  My place was in the middle of the living room floor on my tummy.  This was so I was close enough to be the TV person.  You remember, the one who changed the channels, adjusted the volume and did any of the technical stand by stuff.  (Yeah, you stood by the TV then too, didn't you?)

We only dreamed of remotes at that time.  Never did we believe they would happen.  And once they did well it was only for mom and dad to control the TV, not the kids.  Now the kiddos know how to use them better than we ever could.  They learn more and much faster every day.  But it is even better now!  Really!  Now you can give your kiddos their very own remote and Disney figured it out.  The Mikey Mote is a child-size remote control that is interactive too.

We have one along with the Handy Manny: Big Construction Job DVD.  The Mickey Mote works with Disney Preschool DVD that includes Discovery Mode, the interactive "Watch & Play" feature on the DVD!  All you have to do is program the remote control - there's an easy and quick set-up guide in each DVD- and select the Discovery Mode feature on the menu screen.  Within minutes, your kiddos will be easily answering the questions, throughout the story, about scenes they just watched (such as "What color is Goofy's hat?") by pressing one of four color-coded buttons on the device -- a yellow star, green circle, orange triangle or blue square - to click in their responses.  Discovery Mode features include two levels of play, which provides more challenging questions as the child grows.  Kids can immediately use the remote with any of the following titles:

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey's Adventures in Wonderland
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey's Choo Choo
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie's Bow-Tique
Handy Manny: Manny's Motorcycle Adventure
Handy Manny: Manny's Big Race
Little Einsteins: Fire Truck Blast Off
My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Super Duper Super Sleuths
My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Bedtime With Pooh

Princess Emma has been all over me to play with the Micky Mote here at our house.  With the bright red color and Mickey Mouse ears, it caught her attention as soon as I pulled it out of the box.  She told me she was a big girl and could use the remote all on her own.  I did assure her I needed to do just a couple of things first.  But that was all it took.  Now we have my games and Princess Emma has hers.  I want to leave you with the Numbers Song.....an earwig for sure.  Thanks so to Disney for sending me the Mickey Mote and Handy Manny to review.

Toy Story is Back and Better than Ever!

Today is the day! One that College Girl (and the rest of us too!) has been waiting for.  Today.....Yes, Toy Story 3 has been released.  You are a Toy Story fan, right?

Well we love this show.  It is one of our families top favorites.  I know it is meant for kids but has such amazing adult humor too that it is really one of the all time family movies.  And we all know that toys are real...you know...they come to life.  Mine did in my mind as a child.  Didn't yours?

Add in all the ways you can have fun with the story line.  Weather it be from the activity pages that are available to the actual toys that are now on the market.  I saw quite a few Halloween costumes this year from Toy Story.
Of course we had to watch all of the bonus features too.  You know that they have some great shorts on there always.  You need to see the Pixar short "Day & Night".   I love all the humor and thought that goes into these shorts.  Don't you?  The movie is in a combo pack of Blu-Ray and DVD so you can watch it on which ever play you own.  Beside the bonus feature of Day & Night you also have stories from the studios, interviews with the actors and tales on how a new place is created.  The Blu-Ray disc has extras in trivia games, commentaries and insights on how new scenes are developed.  I have found it all very educational especially since we now look at behind the scenes more with College Girl's theater classes.
So what is my favorite part of Toy Story 3 without giving it all away?  It has to be the ending.  It had Dear, College Girl and I all leaking tears.  We so connected to the fun and love we all had for our toys when we were children.  And more so that there is a part of us that never really wants to give up playing.  Gosh I know that I still find ways to play.  Weather it be coloring with Princess Emma or bowling on the Wii.  Playtime is important for all of us.  What is your favorite toy today?
Make sure to also check out Toy Story 3's Face Book page for more fun.   I wish to thank Disney and Pixar for sending me the combo pack of Toy Story 3 in Blu-Ray and DVD.

Secretariat Winning Giveaway

College Girls grandmother on her Poppa's side loved watching the adventure of Secretariat. She would be on the edge of her seat watching this horse race ahead of all the others. I use to be amazed to see such a tiny lil lady get so excited with each win. Grace clipped out stories from the papers and magazines that told of how this lil known horse was changing racing history.  I wish she was here now to see the movie from Disney that opens on October 8th nationwide.  You can see the movie trailer here.

Based on the remarkable true story, “Secretariat” chronicles the spectacular journey of the 1973 Triple Crown winner. Housewife and mother Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) agrees to take over her ailing father’s Virginia-based Meadow Stables, despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge. Against all odds, Chenery—with the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich)—manages to navigate the male-dominated business, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years and what may be the greatest racehorse of all time.

Some lil facts:
  • In 1973, Secretariat became the first U.S. Triple Crown champion in 25 years, setting race records that still stand today in the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
  • Penny Chenery, now 87, is an integral resource in the making of the film.  She also appears as an extra in one of the film’s scenes.
  • In 1973, Secretariat graced the covers of three magazines the same week; Time, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated.
  • Director Randall Wallace, whose directorial credits include “We Were Soldiers,” is the Oscar®- and Golden Globe®-nominated screenwriter of “Braveheart.
  • In 1999, the U.S. Postal Service unveiled a 33-cent postage stamp with Secretariat’s image.
We are lucky to have a wonderful 4 pack prize package for one of my lucky winners from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.  You can enter a number of ways. But the first one is to leave me a comment and tell me what you know of Secretariat. We have 4 more ways by following on facebook and twitter the Secretariat and Disney sites. I have those listed below. Another for following me anywhere....here,  facebook, twitter...leave a comment for each place you follow me at.  Make sure your email is with your profile or on the comment.  I will have a winner listed on the movie opening date of October 8th, 2010.

ITEMS FOR GIVEAWAY:

Princess Emma's Birthday Phase 2

Another fun gift for Miss Emma. She took a hold of the last Air Bud DVD we had. So I knew this DVD was perfect for her. Between her love for animals and all the sports she watches with her Poppa, this is a natural.

She is going to love Disney's Air Bud: World Pup. And of course it is the special edition with bonus features and free sports bag too. I know that she will love the pups as they learn how to take soccer to a whole new playing field.

Now her Poppa will be sitting right beside her to watch from the broadcasting booth as Rosebud gives a sports channel broadcast. And it will be interesting to see how they taught Air Bud how to play soccer in the production featurette. And Emma will be squealing about the puppies.

We all love puppies right? Of course we do. Ok everybody say AAAWWW here. But the puppies get into all the action too. I hope you get a chance to see this one too! What is your favorite Disney movie? Are you a fan of Air Bud? And how do they manage to get a hold of my heart and twist it around so with those adorable faces?

DISCLOSURE: I received a complimentary copy of this DVD to facilitate this review. No other compensation was provided.

Sick Day Save by Minnie's Bow-Tique

I hate that all the lil ladies here have been sick all week. You know that nasty runny nose and horrid cough going around. It sure has made play time less than enjoyable. And we have had alot of laying around time.

Well today we can rest and still have fun! I have the brand new (just released yesterday) copy of Minnie's Bow-Tique. This is the newest of Disney's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse series of DVD's. And my set of lil ladies squealed when they saw the dvd.

We started off all bundled up on the couches so we could see the shows.
Minnie’s Bow-tique
Minnie’s Bee Story
Minnie’s Picnic
Minnie’s Pajama Party (this has an episode not seen til 4-6-10)

Then was able to go on with two episodes, ‘Minnie’s Pajama Party,’ and ‘Minnie’s Bee Story, including Disney’s Adventure Mode – an interactive game using the remote control with multiple play levels.

They all took turns playing the special features with the Bow-Tique Game. We had Disney's Adventure Mode where each lil lady had the ability to do different levels with multi player controls. There was 4 different BOW show games too! So we did not get bored quickly and had lots of time to play each level. Our littlest lady really likes hands on toys...so she was drawn to the magnets that was in the package. We had several bows and a great photo frame too. She spent much time at the fridge rearranging them.

So I have to give Dustin at Click Communications and Disney a super big thank you for sending me this new DVD. It sure has saved our sick time and kept the lil ladies entertained.

Super Bowl with Air Bud

Are you getting ready for the Super Bowl? Yeah! Time for the guys to gather around the game. All the wives are making goodies to eat. And the kids are climbing the walls?

Well that is not the way I have it planned for us. Sure the guys will be watching the game and the ladies dishing up and sharing gossip. But the kids here are going to have some fun of their own. We are going to watch AIR BUD: GOLDEN RECEIVER SPECIAL EDITION
DVD. It was just released on the 2nd of February by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

I have plans to have the dvd running in the next room for the kiddos. Of course I watched it this week to see what it was like. Buddy (Air Bud) has moved on from basketball to the football field. When I was watching Lil Miss Emma was here too. She was so excited to see Air Bud play football. I have not seen her do her touchdown dance before but it had some doggie begging moves in it. Too cute.
This special edition DVD (G rated too) features exclusive all-new bonus action: Sports Channel play-by-play quarterbacked by the Buddies! Join Budderball in the broadcasting booth as he and the rest of the Buddies, B-Dawg, Mudbud, Buddha and Rosebud, review the instant replay on the amazing football career of their dad, Air Bud.

I also have plans for some fun relay races for the kids. We have the
Air Bud Sport Whistle Necklace ( Exclusive on-pack while supplies last). This is going to be our start whistle for tire relay races. We plan on doing the race where you run through tires on the ground. Also have a tire swing set up that we are going to see if we can throw a football through the center. And of course all kinds of goodies. How long do you think it will be before the dads join the kiddos in all the fun?

I do wish to thank Dustin and Walt Disney Studios for letting me see this movie. I loved the wholesome family show. I think you would like to add this one to your movie library.
