I have gone to the Dogs

I love my doggies.  All 5 of them.  They are the automatic love givers around here.  No matter what they are ready to be petted.  College Girl can pick up leashes and they go crazy, knowing that they are going on an adventure.  (Silly us, we know that it is a walk.)  Each of the dogs have their own special ways.

Penny Bright was inherited from my birth father when he passed.  She is a beautiful golden Labrador.  Penny was not raised around children so she had to learn about them here.  That was a quick lesson.  Sadly she still does not like children around her face.  The kids learned that lesson quickly too.

Chip is College Girl's number one dog. Always at her side and willing to let anyone pet her.  Quiet and calm.  But she knows how to climb a fence with just a quick jump.  She does not run away.  Just comes around the house to sit on the front porch.  Loyal always.

Steve is the second of College Girl's pets.  He is a weird mix of a dog.  Looking like a short squat big dog.  Odd.  Steve is also a hound dog at heart.  He talks, howls and yowls with us.  The best of all of the doggie singers.

Aliea is my love.  A brindle colored chihuahua who loves to snuggle under the covers with me. An automatic toe warmer to beat all toe warmers.  I so adore having this lil lady to cuddle, pet and kiss all over.  She is quick, bright and happy.

Baby Doll is Granny M's toy chihuahua.  She was a gift from College Girl.  Always right at someone's butt.  Yes, I said that.  Baby Doll knows that the petting is best when you cuddled up next to somebody.  She never misses a chance to get petted.

Another great lil dog is Freddi the Dog.  Now I met Freddi via a book that I was reading to the grandbabes.  Freddi is a mischievous lil doggies.  But it is just because she has one tenny, weeny, itsy, bitsy, tiny, naughty bone!!!
And if Freddi's naughty bone gets tickled, Freddi gets in trouble.  How the kiddos love hearing about Freddi and what adventures happened.  I liked the colorful illustrations by Bruce Hammond.  Lisa and Randy Herman wrote Freddi the dog telling us about their real dog.  And as all of us who are pet owners know that there all sorts of stories we tell about our own pets.  Share this one with the kiddos.  By the way...here is what the real Freddi (Fredericak!) looks like.

Let Us Interrupt the Regular Schelduled Programing

I was going to post a great post....but got side tracked.

A phone call from Nessa yelling Help! Ok, Ok be right there.

What is it. Dish pan hands emergency? Son being too much of a boy? Housework attacking you?

No....it is Dog in Tree.

Yes--------DOG IN TREE! 28 ft in the air in the tree. I am telling you, dogs do not belong in trees. And not 28 feet in the air in trees. And most certainly not there all night long and never made a sound in the tree.

Honest.....Go read this......You will be shocked.

And I will get back to my regular scheduled programing tomorrow.

Making Sweet Scents

We have a dog who loves to play with the adorable soft black and white "kitties" that come in our

yard from time to time. Living in the country brings all kinds. This week we have been the feeding grounds for armadillos and the play yard for the skunks. And of course our senior dog ran to play, play and play. Now we have the sweet scents of skunk odor all over.

Thank goodness for EarthCare! They had already sent me two containers of Clear the Air Odor Eliminator for Skunk Odors. And not anytime too soon. I ran to the house and grabbed on and an old stocking. Poured the canister contents into the stocking, tied off the end and started shaking it all over our dog. Then we hung the bag up over the back door.

Wow what a difference it made, quickly. My dog started smelling better fast and the odor from the yard wafting into the house begin to dispense. I was so glad. I know that I will always have a can of this on hand for these "sweet scents". Thanks so much EarthCare!

Too Cold for this Poop

Well there is a chill in the air around here. And a lil more so at my house. Why?
Hubby angry due to lack of dancing girls in the house? Nah! I am enough girl for him.
Grandma giving the frosty shoulder since she can not smoke inside? Nope! She loves her front porch full of plants.
Well why?
Because I leave our back door open for the pets to go outside (in the fenced in yard) to do their "business". So the chill from outside comes on in. But we are willing to be a lil cold to help out our pets.

Now this would be okay if they were doing just that. But, NOOOOOO!
For some reason they have decided that the dining room floor is so much nicer for a bathroom facility. Why??????
I have no idea. But I need help from all of y'all smart people. What can I do to stop this.

Ok there are guidelines for this task.
1. Yes I have cleaned it up and mopped the floor (over and over again with bleach).
2. We are not killing any dogs at all.
3. I am a sucker and do not want to put the pets outside to freeze when it is cold.
4. I am cheap so nothing expensive to fix, replace or redo with--okay!

Sweet Scents from the Litter Box

This last weekend our neighbors had a birthday party. Their in-laws were driving across the state just to attend. Of course my friend wanted the house to be at it's best.

Now did I mention that she owns 3 very large dogs? And that they love to stay in the house all they can? And that they sometimes have accidents? Hey, it happens to all of us. Well she asked what we used to keep odor down. You see, we have 5 dogs and they are in the house the majority of the time too!

So I let her borrow Clear the Air Pet Odor Eliminator. This is a all non-toxic product that we are currently using in our litter box. We have a new kitten and oh yuck.....the smells that come from that litter box. Earth Care Products was kind enough to send me a can of their Pet Odor Eliminator just the week before. So I was happy to share with our friends.

Now when I first opened the can I was not too thrilled by the scent. Of course I am use to those

floral and cinnamon fragrances that we find in most carpet fresheners. This is not the same thing though. Actually this is not something that covers up scents but instead it removes the scent. I cleaned the kitty litter and then sprinkled in some of the Clear the Air Pet Odor Eliminator. Guess what.....nothing.....yeah nothing......that is right nothing......I do not smell anything at all. And it has been a week. Wait....oh no, since I did not smell anything.....I FORGOT TO CLEAN THE LITTER BOX. Hang on just a sec folks, okay....be right back!

Well, ok that lil job is done now. Oh and about my friends and the party. Well when I attended the celebration, I ate in the living room. And you know what? I did not smell the dogs either. Now where is the Pet Hair Eliminator?
