My Christmas Beauty

This is my grandbabe TK.  She is a beauty.  I love her eyes, they are so much like her mother's eyes.  I wanted to show her off.  And I get to do this while I am also entering the “ 2010 Holiday Photo Contest” sponsored by GiveawayBlogs.com.  GiveawayBlogs.com is a ning site that was created by UPrinting.   The winner will receive a 18 X 24 museum wrapped canvas print and a $100 Amazon gift card.  Pretty good!  So I know how much I love the photo.  Maybe others will too.  You can always pop over there and vote for this photo too.  I do wish to thank my lovely step daughter and her man for taking this beautiful photo and sending it to me.  If I win I plan on sharing the prize with them.

Heart on Breast Cancer Awareness

Just a fun lil thing to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And to show off Princess Emma as usual. I Heart Faces is hosting their weekly photo contest. This week it is Pink Week. I think the photo below will work quite nicely. What do you think?

Grand Babe Weekend

At the Friday night football game.
 Look Ma, no hands.
Girls can be tough too.
Growl!  I am a wild tiger.
It was so much fun when my Granddaughter told me she was a wild tiger.  So we pulled out the make up bag and made that statement true.  With just a few lines and swipes we made her  up to be her imagined strength.  That with her amazing eyes and our hearts were off to stalk the jungle (aka the house).  With a roar and a jump here and there we managed to catch quite a few other wild beast.
This last photo is a contest entry to the “Spook-A-Look Halloween Photo Contest” at Giveaway Blogs.  This site is sponsored by UPrinting and has some of the best giveaways listed there.  I add mine to the free forums so others can find them.  But at least one day a week I sit and go through them to find what I wish to enter too.  Love that!

Tidy Home

As you all know I have pets....lots of them.  10 to be exact.  5 dogs and 5 cats.  Yet my house does not smell of them.  Whew!  I am so glad.  But that does take some doing on my part to keep it that way.  I wanted to share some tips on how to help keep your house clean and still have your pets.

1. Clean your house from top to bottom every week, but instead of spending one whole day working your tail off, do one space every day starting on Monday and working your way to Friday. That way by Friday the place is spic and span, just in time for the weekend!  There are things I have to do daily though.  Every day I rake the dog yard of those pesky "bombs".  I also sweep and mop (or vacuum if you have carpet) all common rooms.  This cuts down on pet hair big time.  Also the cat box is cleaned every morning too.
2. Making cleaning a game makes it, well, a little more fun. Sure, you love a clean house but the cleaning of it, is not one of your favorite things. So make a game out of it! Get out your kitchen timer. Set the timer for 20 minutes and get cleaning; you’d be surprised how much you can get accomplished in that time frame!  I find I can clean any room in this amount of time.  Start at the top (ceiling fans) and work your way down to the floor.  Keep a basket that you can place things in that go to other rooms.  That way you are not running from room to room but staying put in the one room your working on.
3. It is important that your home smells fresh and clean. But, many chemicals are unsafe for pets. Instead, try using essential oils. Specifically, try the terracotta lamp oil rings that you put around light bulbs. You just put a few drops of the scented oil on the ring, turn on the light and the scent emanates naturally.  Thankfully I am in a beautiful state and can keep the doors and windows open almost all year round.  This keeps my house smelling very fresh.
4. Try to have plenty of seating in my home. Having plenty of comfortable chairs is better than having a few sofas. The number one rule of thumb is for every seat, you need a place to set a drink!  I also have old blankets and towels for the seats.  I keep these there so the pets can lay down.  When I am having friends or family over, I wisk off the covers, toss them in a basket and viola'!  All is ready to have company.
5. When trying to purge unwanted things, ask yourself three questions: Do I need it? Do I love it? Could it make me money? If I answer no to all of those questions, get rid of the item.  I have a tote for things that are in good condition.  If I am going to purge these items I place them in the tote.  Once it is full I take to donate at the local community store.  Now the broken items go straight to the trash.

Doggie Breath

Oh my, do you have pets? I have dogs and cats.  And cats are ok, they treat you like servants to care for them.  And I am ok with being kitty staff.  But dogs...no they love love love you! They treat you like family....all tail wagging and barking and jumping all around when you show up.  Now I love my dogs.  I love that they love me.  But I do not love their breath.  Honestly....I am looking for doggie toothbrushes.  So I am not assaulted by the horrid smells wafting out of those lil doggie mouths.  I know some people who do brush their dogs teeth.  I am a lil scared I would get chewed on.  I know I would get drooled on.  That happens already!
But I have found a way to take care of that stench without risking any of my fingers.  Oh and I also have whiter teeth with the lil pooches.  (Yeah, at least they are not neon white, that would be just down right scary.)  Now I simply sprinkle on a lil of my Teddy's Pride in the dog food and whoosh all my fears of doggie breath are gone.  Actually since they do get scraps from the table I put it on that.  This way each dog gets their own dose of Teddy's Pride.  I was happy to see that this is a probiotic and it uses the natural bacteria to promote long term oral health.  Hummmm, I wonder if I could do the same for College Girl?  Naw, guess I should not use the dogs things for her.  Honestly the same science that is used here is working for her with the rinse system she is not using.  I love it!

Oragenics, Inc., a company specializing in all-natural probiotics for oral care, will be giving away a YEAR'S supply of Teddy's Pride to one lucky winner.
Entering the contest is easy.  Just visit Teddy's Pride on Facebook
1) Friend them (if you wish, not required)
2) send Linda the Tooth Fairy an email through their Facebook page, telling her a cute little thing about your pet.

The deadline for entry is Friday, October 29 at midnight (Pacific time) and the winner will be announced on Monday, November 1.

So better scents around here.  And I am still the cat butler but the dogs are happy to just laze around with me.  I do wish to thank Teddy's Pride for sending me samples to use.  I was thrilled to find it online too since most stores are so far away from where I live.  Now it can just arrive in the mail.  Oh and this does work with cats too!

Crazed Mind's Sub Sandwich

Mezzetta

I had a great birthday this weekend. And it, of course, had tons of great food. From crab stuffed chicken in a white wine sauce to garlic butter saute shrimp to chocolate strawberry cake. But one of the major hits was of my own creation. It was Crazed Mind's Sub Sandwich. I made it with Mezzetta products and a lil tweaking of my own.

You know about Mezzetta? Those great lil jars of yummy olives, peppers and tomatoes. Well they are having their annual Make That Sandwich Contest. They will have a $25,000 prize for the most inventive sandwich made with Mezzetta products. And I am going to enter with my sandwich. You wanna join in and enter too? If so just whip up your fav sandwich and pop on over to Mezzetta and enter with me.

In the meantime, here is mine.

Crazed Mind's Sub Sandwich

1 large package of Skinless Chicken Strips
1 lb Bacon
1 loaf French Bread
1 cup Mayonnaise
1 cup Blue Cheese
1 cup white onion (diced)

First I used 1 cup of each of the following Mezzetta Products

Sweet Cherry Peppers (diced)
Imported Pitted Calamata Olives (diced)
Julienne Cut Sun-Ripened Dried Tomatoes
Deli-Sliced Tamed Jalapeno Peppers
Italian Castelvetrano Whole Green Olives (pitted and diced)
Deli-Sliced Roasted Sweet Bell Pepper Strips

I blended the Mezzetta Julienne Cut Sun-Ripened Dried Tomatoes and the Mayonnaise to make my spread.

It sure turned out pretty. My College Girl is not a mayonnaise fan but said this was real tasty.

Then I mixed up the onion , sweet cherry peppers, imported pitted calamata olives and the Italian Castelvetrano whole green olives that all been diced up to make my relish.

The mixture of colors and flavors was right on. I would add this as a topping to a salad too.

Next we laid out the chicken strip. Placed the blue cheese, deli-sliced roasted sweet bell pepper strips and the deli sliced tamed jalapeno peppers in the middle.

Next you roll the chicken into a ball. Take a piece of bacon and wrap around it one way. And a second piece of bacon and wrap it around the opposite direction. I secured it with a toothpick.

Place the bacon wrapped chicken balls on a baking sheet. I cooked it at 350 for about 25 minutes. Checking about every 10 minutes to see if they were done. Next I placed the cooked bacon wrapped chicken balls in a skillet, poured in the grease on the baking sheet and cooked them for a few more minutes. You turn the balls frequently. This was to crisp up the bacon.

This would make a wonderful appetizer for a party. Don't they look delicious?

For the sandwich we hollowed out the french bread. Sliced enough for one sandwich. Put the tomato spread on the bread. Placed two of the bacon wrapped chicken balls inside. And topped it with the olive pepper relish.

I have to say this was a wonderful sandwich. The men that were here all moaned when they bit into it. And the ladies loved the flavor and great colors too. I know that I have already been asked to add this to our super bowl party this winter.

Make sure to try this one soon. And make up your own creation to add to the Mezzetta
Make That Sandwich Contest. Hurry up as the contest ends September 6th, 2010.

DISCLOSURE: I received complimentary Mezzetta products to facilitate this review. No other compensation was provided.

Passion for Princess Emma

I told you yesterday I am up for blogger of the month over at Giveaway Blogs. It is a poll thingy that you vote on one of three. I am Lenore Webb (yeah, my real name) there if you wish to add your vote...well for me that is.
Well they are sponsored by UPrinting, the online printing company that has sponsored so many of my giveaways here. They have been so nice to me, honestly.....don't even pay me for that one. But they have opened up to so many other things. And here is a newest one.
I have a chance to win $100 and a 16x20 rolled canvas from GiveawayBlogs.com and UPrinting.com. They are having a photo contest with the theme of Passion. I was thinking of my passions. The first that popped into my head was Dancing. I love Dancing. But then family is also a major passion of mine. If you could just see my walls covered in generations of family photos. And then it occurred to me that I could have both for my passion. HOW?
Well you hear me talk all the time of Princess Emma. That is College Girls lil sister (actually half sister but we never think that way). Isn't she a beautiful Princess?
I just love her expressive face. And her love of fashion. Emma is always playing dress up here, at home and heck even in the stores. Look how well she can pull off this hat!

Well, Princess Emma adores dancing. She has given us some of the best ballets I have ever been too and right here in our own home. One day she danced her most expressive ballet all to the theme music of a TV show playing. We all had to clap and cheer for her.
Of course she can get her dance moves in. Here we think of her as being Ninja Emma. But actually she was getting her dance into the groove.
I think it is the joy on her face that gets me so. And of course knowing that she is showing us how her heart is so happy. You just have to smile when you see her dancing. Well since this post is an entry to the GiveawayBlogs.com photo contest. I have decided that if I win, I would have the following photo of Princess Emma be the 16x20 rolled canvas print.  I did not take this photo but a great friend of mine did.  Jayde has some beautiful art work and shares it over on her Shutterfly gallery.  I am so lucky to have this photo of Princess Emma done by Jayde.  I know that if I win the rolled canvas print would go to Princess Emma's parents as a gift.
What do you think? Or is one of the others your favorite? What would be your passion? And how would I spend that $100? Bills or Food?
