Great Adventures

Well Spring Break is over for my CG but is just starting for others. For example this week I will be heading to San Antonio with my girl friend Julie during her Spring Break. (She is a Latin teacher and gets all the vacations off!) Also another friend of mine is heading off to far reaching lands...well for me they are. She is off to London! I am so envious.

It took some planning and she looked for London hotels online. She found a dedicated London hotel booking site that gave her street guides with in depth infomation about the city of London. Quite helpful. Of course she is on a budget (who isn't) and needed cheap London hotels. She found some really good deals. One such room was only $52.17 for one night. She will not have a private bath but she laughed and said this was not new for her. She is one of 8 children growing up and never had a private bath.

I would love to travel to London. It is the only place outside of the USA that I have ever had a desire to visit. And if I every get that luxury then I know where to find the latest London hotel deals. I know not all of the London hotel have shared bathrooms!

Trips that are Original

Next week I will be doing the adult "Spring Break" with one of my good friends. Jules is always so cautious in all she does. She is going to rent a car to be reassured hers would not have something happen and leave us stranded. She locks her car and checks all the doors, twice to be sure she has locked all of them. And she puts her money on a prepaid MasterCard so nothing happens to her own checking accounts.

Jules lives in a world where she is forever double checking on things. She carries her keys on a necklace around her neck. Jules would never consider missing the date she is to have her oil checked. And whenever she travels, Jules carries a prepaid credit card and leaves her personal cards at home.

I know that Jules is ADD. She double checks and watches her pennies. It is her way to be reassured. Jules makes sure that she will not lose her own debit card any time she travels. A prepaid debit card will be in her wallet to pay for her hotel stays and gasoline. This is her double check on budgets. This way only what she plans on spending on travel will be used.

It is different doing a trip with Jules. But it is always original and an adventure. I am looking forward to our trip. We will be seeing a play, shopping in some of our favorite organic stores and hearing original music in an eerily beautiful environment.

Weekend Plans

Well CG is home for Spring Break. I am so glad. She makes me the happiest mom ever. I am looking forward to our all girls slumber party Saturday night. Also that my granddaughter will be here this next week also.

CG is going to go with her dad and "almost" mom to look at cars. They have plans on checking out an Audi Q7 first. This is the one that almost mom likes the best. CG's dad is really interested in a GMC Sierra and I know he has always wanted a truck. If he finds one he can afford I know he is going to be pushing for it!

CG would like to steer them toward a Honda Hybrid. She is all about being "green." I know that she is really worried about the effects on the economy and the environment. And she is trying to find a balance of both. I myself say go for the Nissan Altima. I have always thought that Nissans were good cars for the money.

I wish them luck in finding just the right car. And of course CG will love all the test driving. She says test driving is awesome. As long as it is an automatic! What type of car would you pick out if you could? And is color a deciding factor in what you purchase? CG wants dark blue or a dark green.

Otherwise we are looking to start baking some goodies for the party. The one we are going to try first is a Brookie. It is a favorite of CG's and came from her theater department bake sales. It is a combination of brownies and cookies all in one.

Spring Break

I have a friend who is a Latin teacher. She gets to have spring break, summer vacation and of course Christmas break. I am so envious. Us every day folk have to just live life without all the breaks.

Well she really enjoys camping. You know the sierra club and all that. Ok she is a granola freak but she makes killer granola! This year she has asked me to join her for her spring break. She asked me what I thought of Gettysburg camping? I asked her if she meant RV camping in Gettysburg? I mean it is cold up there still. Right? I would think PA RV camping would be the only way to go til summer. Yes, I am a wimp about cold weather.

We went back and forth til I was able to bring her around to my way of thinking. Persuasive! So instead of a long trip and colder weather we are opting for friends and warmth here in Texas. So in two weeks I will be around San Antonio listening to Native American Flutes being played in the caves of Boerne. Anyone want to join us? Donna! How about you, we will be staying at Jennifer's place. See I don't even have to camp!
