Fun Filled Weekend

Whew today has been one busy day.  As a matter of fact the whole weekend has had us going 90 to nothing.  Friday night was my niece's 25th birthday.  Happy day for her!  So her two kiddos and Princess Emma all popped over for a evening of play.  The kids spent the night and Princess Emma came back over Saturday to continue in the festivities.

Princess Emma showed up with her GeoPalz on.  Have you seen them?  Emma has the butterfly.  She wears it all the time at home, playing in the park and such.  In time she will get to wear it at school but Other Mother wants the new to wear off so she does not mess with it and get in trouble for not paying attention.  Good Idea.    Emma was in her first marathon last year and has hopes of doing more.  She may not be fast but she does not stop at all.  I wish I had her lasting energy.

GeoPalz is the first decorative pedometer for kids.  You can go online to register your steps for an interactive media and gaming arcade. This is designed to promote physical fitness through rewards-based online gaming. Through the website, users can exchange steps walked (and logged through their pedometer) for time with games. In order to promote the budding young gamer (5+) to also get active and stay healthy, GeoPalz has launched this brand new arcade! GeoPalz has a prize option available (frisbees, basketballs, even bikes), but now the kids have even more options.

There was also movies playing.  Having 3 kiddos from the age of 4 to 6 and both girls and a boy we needed variety.  Sometimes all three were watching and other times one or two was.  Now everyone was happy to watch an episode of Sid the Science Kid.  It was 'Sleep? Who needs it?'.  Gosh that is one for me too.  I sleep so very little with out help of medication.  Sid thinks if he stays up all night then he and his toys can pretend to fly in space.  So at school he checks out just why you need sleep.  I really liked the way the kiddos all learned how to slow down and rest.  I was ready to sleep too!  These new episodes will run in November the 12th - 15th.  Watch for them.

Our lil man was all hands on deck to see Disney's Jake and the Neverland Pirates in Jake Saves Bucky.  He especially loved having his own inflatable sword to join in on the swash buckling action.  This was just released with 5 episodes so you can pick a show at a time.  We started off with the feature.  Then for a bonus we joined in on the Pirate-oke.  That is a pirate version of karaoke.  It is fun to pretend with the kids this way.  But I have to make sure they do not decide to make me walk the plank.  You can join in on the fun with the downloadable games 7 activities.

Now the last show the kiddos did not get to see.  I think it is a lil over their age range.  But JD is itching to get her hands on it.  I think it will be part of her Christmas this year.  She is just an overgrown kid like her Poppa.  She has season one so here is part 2 of season two of CatDog.  Shout! Factory always has the best of Nickolodeon shows.  It is pure nostalgia for JD.  CatDog’s friendship helps them to stick together through a steady stream of outrageous escapades that bring fun, excitement and a heap of uproarious adventures — as if they have any choice!

I wish to thank all of the companies above for providing us a fun filled weekend. I promise we did our fair share of running, pretending and even just chilling some.  Hey you know it is movie time with they ask for popcorn for breakfast!

Princess Emma's Birthday Giveaway

Today is a special day in our house. I mean it is not every day that we have a birthday for a Princess around here. But since she is College Girl's lil sissy and she truly has the grace of a Princess we are so excited. By the way did I ever tell you her name is Emma Grace. I am sure you can tell we adore her.

Well as the avid readers we are there are books galore for her. I will tell you about them in just a moment. We also have a Princess toy organizer for her. And the most perfect 'noise' maker....I mean voice enhancer too. Honestly she loves to sing. A Sid the Science Kid Gotta Know Microphone will thrill her. It has buttons that repeat well know phrases from the show. But there is also a Echo Effect that she will surely use to sing with. Of course we also have an Applause button too! Gotta have the cheers from the crowd ya' know! I love Sid on PBS. He is our morning show around here.

Since it is Princess Emma's Birthday we want to share the gifts with you. So if you would like to leave a comment below on your favorite children's show or gift then your entered. If you can give us one of the characters names on Sid the Science Kid then you will get an extra entry. Entries are with the normal comments. Kids and Science and Giveaway

I loved seeing the Grandbabes this last weekend. Yesterday I had a visit with Miss Emma too. She will be 4 this summer! WOW! They all keep growing so fast. I love having them all around me and sometimes wonder if that is part of my purpose in life.

Ok yeah I am a mom to my College Girl. And I have helped raise many many more. I think most moms do in one way or another. I have had other families under my roof for years at a time. In doing so the one thing I have always done was try to foster a love for reading. It is one of my great passions. College Girl picked it up and we pray will be a writer in her own time too.

But in the mean time I am still reading to kids and passing on books from one to another. This next weekend my oldest and dearest friend is coming to visit. (We met when we were 10 years old.) She has a lil lady of her own now and I am going to give them the book Om Baby-Child of the Universe. Now this is not your typical sweet baby child book. No this is a bright colorful book looking at the metaphysical world through a child's eye. We see how we can all share this world loving each other and caring for that which is around us. And isn't that what we all really wish for. So with child like faith and belief Om Baby sees life around him is filled with love, truth and unity. What a positive message to give. By the way, thanks so much to Schamet Horsfield (the author) for sending me Om Baby. That was very kind of you to do.

He is also willing to share with you too. How...well of course the adorable Giveaway that we all know so well. So if you would wish to have Om Baby visit your home to then leave a comment. Tell me what is it you wish to see with your one eye. Would it be world peace, love for all or a great big chuck of chocolate cake? We all see beauty in different things. And I will pick a winner in a week!

I am also going to be able to share with Miss Emma and the Grandbabes one of College Girls all time favorites. Jim Henson (yeah from the Muppets) has Sid the Science Kid books and DVDs. It is so much fun to learn with Sid who questions how to do things while looking for the reason why too. We watched the Weather Kid Sid DVD this last weekend with the Grandbabes. My older granddaughter (she is 6 now) made sure I understood the seasons and how rain is created. It was so interesting to see her furrow her brow and explain that the wind can blow things around even when we can not see it. Thanks Sid for helping my darling granddaughter understand so much. After wards we read Sid the Science Kid: Everybody, Move Your Feet. You know that got them up and marching around. Like Sid the kids told me not to just sit and watch TV but we need to get up and play too. Why shucks I knew that. But again I love seeing the lessons sink in. Michelle you score big points sending this set to us.

Well enough of child's play. It is time for me to get up and moving. Off to Curves for my 30 minute workout. Then heading out to the in-laws to help clean up the house while they are at the doctors today. This evening is time to relax with Dear Hubby (yeah, can you believe he will be home?) while watching NCIS. Think it is going to be a good day today.
