Loaning our CG

Loans, loan forms, FASFA and more...it seems to be a never ending line of paperwork to keep the school loans coming. Poor College Girl, she is in the financial aid office each week trying to learn this maze of paperwork. And there is not much I can do to help her. First she has to do

the paperwork herself at the school. And I need some major credit repair before anyone would be willing to let me be a cosigner for my lil CG.
So many of us in this economic upheaval are working on ways to fix your credit. I know that it has been a battle for me with having had previous divorces and loss of income when I became disabled. And now my College Girl is having to suffer from my bad credit. Poor dear.
How many of us come out of 4 to 6 years in higher education and have good credit. Not too many. So this is something that she will be contending with herself in just a few years. How to keep loans paid off and up to date while making it on her own. I know that there are many companies and organizations out there to help us repair our finances. Places like Consumer Credit Counseling, Ovation Credit, Debt Relief and of course the dreaded lawyers too.
Sometimes I am not sure how we manage to get through the muck and mire of all the new things we have to learn to take care of our finances.
What has worked for you? Do you have loans, credit cards and debt you have had to have help with? Or are you a cash and carry kind of girl. I know that is what I have become. If I do not have the money in our account then we just do not purchase something.

Credit Is as Credit Does

I was talking to Dear Hubby about credit repair last night. Yeah, I know, not exciting conversation. But it can be very necessary to talk about. I am sure that in this trying economy we are not the only ones looking to improve credit at this time.

I know that there are many credit repair services out there. And trying to figure out all of the credit repair information can be quite mind boggling. Especially if you have a bad head for numbers like I do. This is something I would much rather hand over to someone else to help me with then to muddle my way through it. I am sure your the same way about some of the things you tackle.

One of the biggest things we have done is teach College Girl how important it is to keep clean credit . When you hit college it seems that the credit card companies are ready to help you move into your dorm if you want to accept one of their cards. Thankfully she has managed to be pretty cautious there.

How are you handling the problems of too little money at a time when there is way too much credit?

CG's School Loans

With CG returning back to school this week, I have time to finish up on her new college loan applications. It is a task I never look forward too. The first year we did this I had to learn about credit repair. As with most of us, mine is not the best. And the student loans are also judged by the parents credit reports.

So I bit the bullet and looked online on how to repair credit. I know y'all know I use online to find almost everything. I found that there are ways to help out the most "average Joe". That there are rules that actually come around to our benefit. There are ways to remove bad reports and misplaced reports. When you do this you can fix credit
issues.

Now we are in our third year of the college loan process. You would think that it is becoming old hat to me. But alas, I am a whimp with numbers and this task always challenges me. And with the laboring economy I fear that it will be harder and harder each year to secure CG's financing. Now I am off to the loan application grindstone.
