Isaac for President!

Today has been a killer day for me.  First off I am sick.  Yeah that icky runny nose can't breath ache everywhere type of sick.  But not sick enough to stay in bed and play hooky.  Also today I had to go and do my lil bitty side job that I do one day a week for 2 hours.  It had to be today due to specific scheduling.  The bad part was it took me 7 hours to do my lil bitty job today!  And my in-laws were coming to dinner tonight too.  (I loved that part of the day.)  Then the dinner I made sucked bad.  I thought it tasted like dog food but everyone was polite and choked their portion down.

Now why does all of this really bother me?  Not being ill, not working more than planned and not a bad meal did it really.  But instead I had plans today to tell you about something I am so excited about and I had to wait so late to be able to even get any time on my computer to get you.

So here I go!

You know that the big thing every one is talking about is the presidential elections.  They are even saying how the storm 'Sandy' is effecting the election. Now I am not going to tell you who to vote for or why or any of those things.  I stay way way way out of the argument of who or what is best for the U.S. with people.  But I do know who I wish was really available.

Isaac Sidel!  You know him.  I have told you before here about how he has been the toughest, saddest yet amazing NYPD Commissioner ever.  Oh and he went to be the Mayor of New York even with his quirks.  But now, he has became the Vice President of the good ol USA.  And.....yeah more....and he is in Texas!  YeHaw!

Okay, did I lose you back there?  Are you scratching your head wondering how you missed out on hearing about Isaac Sidel?  Well go back and read about him here and here.  Now you know.  Isaac is the Jewish police officer made good in the Jerome Charyn series of books written back in 1974 and continued up to 1999 when Isaac started to make his run into the White House.  Well today Jerome has released Under the Eye of God.  The latest in the Isaac Sidel series.

I have to say that when I read the first book, Blue Eyes, I had to really pay attention to the story line and all of the characters.  Learning about the Bronx and all of the quirky people that ran the underground crime.  I never thought I would fall for a Jewish, ping pong playing cop who had bouts of depression while still caring so for the lil area he hailed from.  Now I have followed Isaac as he has climbed from cop to commissioner to mayor to vice president.  He is still Jewish, still depressed some and still loves ping pong.  But better yet he is still the kick in the ass man that won't take no bull off of anyone.  That is why he is perfect here in Texas.

So vote Isaac!  Or better yet since we can not have a fictional person for Vice President (or can we?), go read Under the Eye of God.

Thanks so to Nicole of Tribute Books for sharing this one with me on e-book.  Thanks to Lenore for keeping me up to date with the comings and goings of Jerome.  But a really big (fan girl love) thank you to Jerome for writing, for sharing and for letting Isaac continue to grow.  Hope you are home from Paris now or soon.  Wait!  Come home after 'Sandy' has moved on.

Under the Eye of God Book Summary
After decades of madness in the Bronx, Isaac Sidel visits the craziest state in the country.Isaac Sidel is too popular to be America’s vice president. Once the New York Police Department commissioner, he became the most beloved mayor in the city’s history—famous for his refusal to surrender his Glock, and for his habit of disappearing for months at a time to fight crime at street level. So when baseball czar J. Michael Storm asks Sidel to join him on the election’s Democratic ticket, the two wild men romp to an unprecedented landslide. But as the president-elect’s mandate goes off the rails—threatened by corruption, sex, and God knows what else—he tires of being overshadowed by Sidel, and dispatches him to a place from which tough politicians seldom return: Texas.

In the Lone Star state, Sidel confronts rogue astrologers, accusations of pedophilia, and a dimwitted assassin who doesn’t know when to take an easy shot. If this Bronx bomber doesn’t watch his step, he risks making vice-presidential history by getting killed on the job.

Jerome Charyn's Bio:
Jerome Charyn (b. 1937) is the critically acclaimed author of nearly fifty books. Born in the Bronx, he attended Columbia College, where he fell in love with the works of William Faulkner and James Joyce. After graduating, he took a job as a playground director and wrote in his spare time, producing his first novel, a Lower East Side fairytale called Once Upon a Droshky, in 1964.

In 1974 Charyn published Blue Eyes, his first Isaac Sidel mystery. Begun as a distraction while trying to finish a different book, this first in a series of Sidel novels introduced the eccentric, near-mythic detective and his bizarre cast of sidekicks. Charyn followed the character through Citizen Sidel (1999), which ends with his antihero making a run at the White House. Charyn, who divides his time between New York and Paris, is also accomplished at table tennis, and once ranked amongst France’s top Amazon10 percent of ping-pong players.

Thanks for your "vote" and I'm sure Isaac Sidel will be elected BESTSELLER, if you have anything to say about it! Gonna use your quotes all over the place - you do have a way with words! JC says hi.
