No Pain-Lots of Gain!

Today has been a very productive day.  After a night of our dogs barking at the neighbors dog who slept on our front porch.  And barking at the rooster who decided to wake up the household at 4 a.m.  Then Dear Hubby's alarm going off time and time again.  I was sure I would be so tired and groggy that nothing would get accomplished.  Now I did not get a lick of housework done today.  Nor did I cook any meals.  But I did get a lot of work done.

First Granny M and I moved all of her plants back to our big ol front porch.  We bring them in every winter where they take up a great portion of my dining room.  But it is always nice to get them back outside in the sunshine.  Repot what needs to be spruced up.  And plant new as we can.  Counted today and found we only have 86 packets of flower seeds to choose from.  Oh my goodness!

But once that was done and College Girl arrived to be my helper, we got to the nitty gritty of the day.  Moved shelves out of the way.  Dining table and chairs moved back.  Swept the floor.  Then started the grueling job of pulling up the vinyl tile.  It has been so damaged from the pets and dragging chairs and moving furniture that I hate looking at it every day.  Just look at how it is cracked up.  And there were some we have already had to chisel off due to damage.  I tried putting lil rugs down to cover the horrid spots of missing tiles.  This so makes me feel horrid as a house keeper.

Well I was prepared for tons of back breaking work down on my hands and knees.  With my RA it makes me want to cry before I even start.  Thankfully I have help.  Yes College Girl was here.  But the real help showed up in a lil black case.  I popped it open and stared with wide eyed wonder at the lil jewel.  See the Heat Pro Deluxe II Hot Air Kit.

I was nervous so made real sure to read all the directions. I mean this thing really heats up!  We had (as directed) it set on high and that is 1000 degrees of heat steaming out of this baby.  Amazingly the casing in blue never was even warm.  And it is very light (again not expected) so it did not end up killing my wrist with my RA.  I also could sit on a low stool and use the Heat Pro to help remove the tiles.  So again, my knees were not aching either.  I have to say living with RA makes most any small job into a painful one.  When I am looking at a large job and not be in pain then I know some minor miracle has happened.

Let me show you what it is like trying to chisel up the tiles without any help.  This is grueling work.  Getting up a lil at  a time.  All the while working my arms and shoulders til I can barely move.  In an hours time I normally can only remove a 16 tile area.  Then I have to stop for the pain.  I have had to do this already in my living room.

Well we started then with the Heat Pro Deluxe II.  Taking time while sitting in a low chair to slowly move the tool across the surface of the tile.  Then as College Girl would move on to the next tile I would be able to take the scraper and lift the tile off the floor.  It would come off in one whole piece instead of bits and chunks when I would try to chisel them off before.

They were just lifting up as we would run the scraper under them.  So easy.  Yeah, sticky but that is okay.  I can deal with the clean up there afterwards.    In two hours time we removed half of the dining room of 87 tiles.  Tomorrow morning we are moving furniture over to the area that is tile less.  Then finishing the rest of the dining room.  Then College Girl has to return to campus for theater work.  That is okay as I see now I can do this all by myself with lil worry.  So the living room is next for me to do.

I know my floors will look bad for some time while we figure out how we want to treat them.  But at least they will not have chipped, torn and cracked tile all over them.  Oh and just look at all the things this tool will do.  Use it for
soldering, removing paint, urethane, varnish, vinyl tile, laminates, and
decals, or to shrink tubing, wraps, and window films. HomeRight’s line of Hot Air Tools can remove up to 10 layers of paint or varnish that have collected over the years.  The most common project for Hot Air Tools is drying and stripping paint and varnish from older window trim, or to refurbish furniture.  Adjustable Heat Settings provide optimum temperature for a wide range of jobs, and the easy to read LED display is great for quick heat reference. Dual fan speed allows you to control the temperature from 140°F to 1000° F.  There are two other models for the occasional and regular user.  My bad baby is for the frequent user.  I promise I will have this in hand to help me out.  Of course I do have to keep College Girl for taking off with it.   She is a power tool freak.

I so wish to thank HomeRight for sending me such an amazing tool.  Also thank you to them for keeping me out of pain.  There is just not anyway I can describe the pain they saved me from.  Any major household job leaves me crying, swollen and unable to bear even being still (lil on movement) for days.  I honestly do not have any extra pain at this time after 2 solid hours of work.  I do not know of any higher recommendation I can give than that.

I told HomeRight how much it helped.  And that I loved it.  And that I was not in pain.  And that I wanted to share. And, and, and.....

They agreed to share!  YIPPPEEE!  Yes they are going to share with Y O U !
