Something Is Bugging Me

It has been so so so so busy around here. First off let me say that Dear Hubby is on the mend. His toes are going to heal nice and straight. And should be back to work in a couple more weeks.

Next answer me this. How is it that I can be ever so efficient, juggle housework, cooking, blogs, helping at Curves and workouts all til he is laid up and then it all goes to pot? Seems that when my focus is solely on Dear Hubby every thing else fades away. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Now a lil quick info for you. We have battled the bugs like crazy here in Texas. There was the great flea invasion (heck with 5 dogs and 4 cats it is to be expected). Now we are being attacked by the blood sucking mosquitoes. But! Help is here. In a couple of forms.

First is for the front porch where we gather nightly for company with our neighbors, friends and family. So now we are using the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Patio Lantern. Not only do we have a nice lil ambiance light but also a way to repel those flying vampires. It is quick and easy to assemble and even I was able to get it going fast enough. My mom is thankful since she spends 80% of her evenings out on the porch. It seems to cover all of the porch at a 225 foot radiance.

Next we also have a way to cover larger areas too. Terro Mosquito Repellent is a granular form of repellent. We we happy to have this for coverage in our side yard. Here we circled the bar-b-que and play area. By placing it outside of the fence line we were not worried about pets or children even though it is 100% natural and safe around pets and people. This repellent lasted 3 weeks and we were able to enjoy parties and playtime and not be eaten by those pesky bugs. I plan on taking it on my next camping trip for placing around my tent. Also take advantage of the 1000 sq foot advantage of Terro.

Now for the last one we had a lice invasion from the kids being cared for across the street. Now I was prepared...or so I thought. I had Lice Shield Shampoo & Conditioner in 1 and Leave-In Spray that was to keep us from getting lice. So when I was informed that lice had invaded their home I did not feel we had to tell them they could not visit. I used the spray in my hair even though I really did not care for the scent. But a small price to pay for having my friends still feel welcome here. Again this was 100% natural which I thought was a plus. Alas it did not work and I too became infected. My friend felt horrid but I reassured her that I could care for my hair and home anyway. Yeah, a lil harsh chemicals but we are all bug fee again.

  1. Many things to say in this comment when my hubs goes back to work, after he gets paid I have been cleared to visit. Also Heartz old school dog shampoo kills those bastards better then anything, when I got them in jr. high it was the only thing that got rid of them.

chemical free way to get rid of lice is olive oil, put it in your hair leave in until you've picked all the nits out. it took me 4 days to do all 3 kids and my self. place all bedding in the dryer everyday for 20 minutes and vaccum everything for a week. i put this up in a note on my fb page. we also tried something called a robicomb and it worked as far as killing the larger bugs but did not get the nits off the hair very well. even the combs that we purchased that are labeled for lice left nits on the hair strand that is where the olive oil came in handy it made the little boogers slide like a greased pig drop them and the buggies in to a glass of alcohol and the vaccuming/dryer. took me the normal 2 weeks once we got our program down which is the same amount of time the chemicals tell you they take.
