Yes, Ice Cream!

Today was one of my favorite mornings of the whole year.  Yes, it is Ice Cream for breakfast day.  What?  You don't have that?  Well honestly it is really called Comanche County Dairy Breakfast here.  This is where we all start to gather at 6 a.m. (the local dairy families start at 4 a.m.) to have a wonderful breakfast served to us. Yes you got it, this is a dairy laden breakfast.  Featuring yogurt, whipped cream (on fresh fruit), cheese and butter (to go on our bisquits with sausage and eggs), milk (your choice of chocolate or white) and ice cream.  And my my my was I ever stuffed.

Our county dairy families, in conjunction with National Dairy Month, hosted the annual and popular Dairy Breakfast today at our Community Center.  Last year, 633 people were served their free and hearty breakfast. Over 1000 eggs were scrambled, 1200 sausage patties cooked, and 1200 biscuits served. They used 12 pounds of cheese and 500 cups of cream.  In 1937, National Dairy Month started out as National Milk Month as a way to promote drinking milk.  We are still celebrating both this industry that such a part of our community as well as loving the benefits for our bodies.

Now these hard working dairy workers, owners, families and their supporters make sure to throw a great party.  And what is a party without prizes.  Here is just the smattering that was won by Princess Emma, Poppi and The Other Mother.  Look at the haul!  Two t-shirts, cheese, yogurts and a cheese slicer.

Let's not miss out on the best part according to Princess Emma.  Yes, the lovely lil calf that showed up to share in lots of petting and loving from the kiddos.
