Don't Mess With Texas Women

Have you ever prayed really hard for something to happen?  You would beg and plead and promise, if only things would go the way you envision it to be.  Why of course most of us are sure we know best what should happen in our life.  (Ha Ha, have I ever been taught that is not true time and time again.)

Well Joanna is living out in the Piney Woods of Texas.  What a beautiful setting as I adore visiting the forest there.  But I do have to say when it gets dark, it really gets DARK!  Joanna has been praying for a preacher to come and help in the church that has died.  Oh my, when a preacher is 'detained', Joanna is so happy that things are going to go her way.

Of course Crockett has different plans.  He has been hijacked!  And he is not going to stand for it.  To top it off he is not a preacher, well not yet.  This is going to be harder than he thought though.  I mean have you ever tangled with a Texas woman?  I mean the sign even warns you.  We can get madder than a hornets nest in no time.  But at the same time once you 'win' us over (ie. when we con you into knowing us and loving us does not have to be the same!) we curl up and purr in your arms.  So just how is Crockett going to learn this lesson.  Well of course the hard way!

I wish to thank the Litfuse Chicks for sending this one my way.  It is great to have a book that takes place right here in my home state no matter what time period it takes place in.  Karen Witemeyer has her own special knack of writing that makes you laugh and surely clutch your heart too.

About Stealing the Preacher:

A cowboy who wants to be a preacher. An outlaw's daughter who wants to change his mind.
On his way to interview for a position at a church in the Piney Woods of Texas, Crockett Archer can't believe it when he's forced off the train by an outlaw and presented to the man's daughter as the preacher she requested for her birthday. He's determined to escape-which would be much easier if he could stop thinking about Joanna Robbins and her unexpected request.

For months, Joanna had prayed for a minister. A man to breathe life back into the abandoned church at the heart of her community. A man to assist her in fulfilling a promise to her dying mother. But just when it seems her prayers have been answered, it turns out the parson is there against his will and has dreams of his own calling him elsewhere. Is there any way she can convince Crockett he ended up right where he was supposed to be?
