Play Date with the Princess

I was so lucky today to get to have a play date with Princess Emma today.  You see even though we get older we do not want to stop having fun.  With my own Grandbabes being so far away, it is nice to have a young one who will still hang with you.  Of course it helps to have popcorn, movies, books and crayons around.

We started off with Princess Emma getting her Easter gift from me.  (Yes, late!) I had Ruby made for her.  Remember me telling you about Ruby?  Yes, that is right.  She is Princess Emma's imaginary dragon that I had a copy made so we could see her too.  Order yours at Brown Bear Handcrafts from one of these two designs, choose your color and the bead spine colors too.  Now this was important because the book we had to read was about a dragon too.

Hookitty-Tookitty-Tah is about a wizard baker boy who uses his cooking magic to rid his town of a bullying dragon. Gosh we all know we do not like to be bullied!   Hookitty-Tookitty-Tah is a 32-page hardcover children’s picture book illustrated by world-renowned Venezuelan artist, Hermann Mejia and written in verse by Antonio Mugica.  We loved the bright water colored paintings as the dragon changed from one color to the next.  It has been decided that Princess Emma is going to take Ruby to Show n Tell and see if her teacher would like to read  Hookitty-Tookitty-Tah to the classroom too.  I think it will be a great hit with a lesson that bullying does not make you very popular at all!

After we finished our story time we moved on to popcorn and a movie.  We put in Delhi Safari, it is a new movie that will be released on the 16th of this month.  (Yes, we were ever so lucky to get to see it early!)  I loved that it had these great talents in it for the voices, Jane Lynch (TV’S Glee, Wreck-It Ralph), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, Pirahna 3D, Snowmen), Vanessa Williams (TV’s 666 Park Avenue, TV’s Desperate Housewives, TV’s Ugly Betty), Cary Elwes (No Strings Attached, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter), Brad Garrett (Hoodwinked Too!, Tangled, Night at the Museum films), Jason Alexander (HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld).  Princess Emma enjoyed the first 30 minutes of the show while she was munching her popcorn but then she had to have more activity.  It seems she is not at the sit and watch a movie stage.  Dear Hubby and I watched while I was making an apple cobbler for dessert.  We liked the idea of letting others know we need to care for our natural resources.  This will be available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Delhi Safari is about a wacky pack of mismatched animals takes on the human race as they travel to the big city to protest the destruction of their jungle. How can a leopard cub and his mother, a peace-loving bear, a mischievous monkey, and a wisecracking parrot present their ideas to a bunch of humans? You’ll find out in this hilarious and heart-warming adventure that will have you cheering at the end.

Our evening ended with dinner of beef stew made by The Other Mother, fresh biscuits and apple cobbler from me and great company of our families all together.  Oh and let's not forget that Princess Emma beat me out of .75 cents by dusting the house.  Yes, she gets paid to do chores here too!

Thanks so to Katrina Wan for sending us Delhi Safari and to Hunter Hackett for sending us Hookitty-Tookitty-Tah .  We greatly appreciate it and all opinions are those of my own.

Yippee! You came to talk to me. Thanks.
You know how special that makes me feel?
Like I swallowed the moon and the stars and I just shine now!
