Win a Nook Color from Shannon Dittemore (@ShanDitty)!

Well I was finally able to get a quiet moment today.  The Grandbabes went next door to play with the new kids on the block.  Yes, I am so excited to have new neighbors.  We already have found many things in common.

But with my few moments of quiet time I was able to finish up my book, Angel Eyes.  I really liked this take on the YA novel.  I am pretty tired of the vampire trend.  So it was refreshing to read this book by Shannon Dittemore.   Here let me give the quick rundown.

Once you've seen, you can't unsee. Everything changes when you've looked at the world through . . .Angel Eyes

Brielle went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy instead. She's come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with her grief and her guilt . . . and the incredible, numbing cold she can't seem to shake.

Jake's the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption.

Something more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels stand guard, unsure what's going to happen. And a beauty brighter than Jake or Brielle has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a realm where all human choices start.

A realm that only angels and demons-and Brielle-can perceive.

This book did deal with the unknown but did so in a very believable fashion.  I have been pretty riveted to this book but with the Grandbabes here my reading time has really been cut down.  There were some parts where you had to really get into the angel/demon idea.  But not being able to see that part of the world you have to go with Shannon's idea of how the battles might be played out.

  1. Good morning, Lenore! I can't thank you enough for taking the time to read and review Angel Eyes. I'm so glad you enjoyed Brielle's journey and I wish you tons and tons of luck with those grandbabies. I don't know what I'd do without the help of my parents and I know your grandkiddos will treasure all the precious moments they have with you!
