100 LBS to Lose

Okay folks, I need your help here.  Accountability is the key and I am making myself accountable to all of y'all.  Now that is 254 people to keep me on my toes.  But I have a reward for you too for the help out.

Let me explain.  I have to lose 100 pounds.  And I am giving myself one year to get it done.  Yes, I am serious.  Here is my plan.  I have ordered a years supply of Cinch by Shaklee.  These are shake meal replacements.  And since I tend to just skip meals and then find myself starving at the end of the day, this will help me get my 3 meals a day.  I ordered vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and cafe latte.  Thus not worried about being bored with the flavors.  Each shake also has 24 grams of protein and 190 calories.  I also have the 3 in  Boost by Shaklee.  This is three supplements in one, for my metabolism, blood sugar and overall health.  Add in my filtered water and get back in my routine of daily exercise at Curves.  This seems to be the idea of how to get back on track.  But honestly I also need everyone here to help me out too.  Ask how I am doing, keep me going and do not let me get off with lame excuses.

I also have Top Trainers from Healthy Fit Bodies to help me out.  This is a 10 DVD set that covers it all for the home workout program.  We have a DVD to help every area.  Ready for it?

  • Cardio
  • Thighs
  • Core
  • Abs
  • Buns
  • Yoga
  • Ballet
  • Pilates
  • Latin Dance
  • Plyometrics
  • Interval Training
  • Kickboxing

Now if that is not some list1  I am looking forward to the Shed Five Fast as a 30 minute workout.  There is also Yogini which is a blend of yoga and pilates for body-sculpting.  I wonder if I can get through the 6 minute Quick Blast for cardio and deep toning.  Eventually I hope to be able to do the kick boxing.  But my knees may not make that.  Dear Hubby will not mind me adding in the Latin Dancing and moving my curves for him too!  All of this includes a fitness guide, wall calendar and a free month with ediets.com too.

I am serious enough to even give you my weight right now.  Yeah, we know a lady never tells her age or weight.  But at 265 pounds I am killing myself.  My start date is August 1st, 2011.  That gives me til Monday to get everything in gear.

Now here comes the good part for you.  I am going to give away 2 books to one of my readers.  The first is Sloan Barnett of former NBC's Today Show (and wife to Roger Barnett the CEO of Shaklee).  I have my AUTOGRAPHED copy of Green goes with Everything by Sloan Barnett.  This gives you her background as to why Green is so important.  As well as simple steps to living a healthier life.    And I also have The Gorgeously Green Diet by Sophie Uliano.  Here we have nearly 100 recipes, exercises and ways to save money and stay Green.  These are two of my books that I am willing to share in this giveaway.  They are valued at $45.90 as a set.

How to win?  Simple....first be one of my GFC friends (mandatory).  Second, leave me a comment with a tip to lose weight or stay on my diet or stick to my plan.  What ever advice you think will help me through this next year.  Make sure I have your email so I can notify you as a winner too.  Wish me luck....and please do not give up on me!  BTW, these are my books and my plan.  This is NOT a sponsored post.  But Shaklee is helping me out by sending me the Cinch I have asked for.  They are good like that!  I also received the 10 DVDs from KMR Communications Inc.

  2. I am currently working on the Dukan Diet plan - just because it is something I can do without having to cook differently for the family (I just eat what I can of the daily meals and omit anything that's not part of the days plan).

I'm looking to lose 52 - 56 lbs (based on my "true" weight per the plan and my "desired" weight. I started 2 days ago and I have already lost 3.6 lbs (even if its water I am happy).

If you don't already have one - get a pedometer! Walk everywhere you can, do stairs as often as possible and shoot for 10,000 steps each day.

I was surprised at my step count when I started checking and saw how many more I needed - so I started trying to add 200 steps a day. It became a game. Now I need to get back to that game since I've slacked off - but no more.

  4. Well I would tell you to realize that it is never easy. You must stick with it and not get discouraged. Also, weigh yourself once a week (if you can stay accountable) otherwise the daily fluctuations in your water weight will get you down. :)

    I already follow!!

  5. hi lynnette!!
i saw your little post show up in my feed and thought i'd stop in and say "hi!!!" i wish you luck with your new venture but i am scared for you a lil, i have to be honest, 23 years ago i did optifast after my first daughter was born and lost 60lbs in 3 months... oprah did it so i thought what the heck i can do that too! i did but let me tell you i really believe that "diet" is what set me up for long term life of chronic dieting, it really messed up my metabolism, and if i could go back i know how hard i wanted that weight to come off and yup, here i am AGAIN... like you working to loose the extra pounds i would NEVER do that again, it just wasn't worth it in the long run... but i do wish you well and only want the best for you!!! :)

  6. Hi sweets! It's wonderful to hear how enthusiastic you are about gaining control over your health! I will support you 110%! That being said, I will support you with encouragement & honesty as I only have your absolute best interest at heart. Looks like you have quite the toolbox to get you well on your way, however I'm concerned that it will be 1. overwhelming & 2. a little too fast paced. You're putting yourself on track to lose just under 2lbs/wk. Sounds doable, right? But you will have weeks where you lose quite a bit (initially water weight) & others where you gain due to muscle mass increase (muscle weighs more than fat). From what I've learned about you, you are one tough cookie. I don't fear that you will get on a dieting roller coaster, rather my concern is that you put so many fitness to-do's that you overwhelm yourself & fall off track. I also know that you are a pretty regimented lady, so I have a feeling that you're already working on a fitness schedule for yourself. I would seriously consider NOT doing an exercise video everyday, rather every other day AND one day where you can treat yourself to something decadent. You'll find that as you are exercising, eating well & feeling good that your taste buds will change & you'll start to crave healthier treats so it's unlikely that you'll be gorging yourself on sweets (or anything else) on those "days off". You'll just need to find your balance. Perhaps on the days that you're not doing a video, that would be the day that you walk an extra 1/4 mile or ride your bike. Keep variety a regular part of your routine so you don't burn out. Also, is there a friend who might want to join your challenge? I have a feeling that many of your followers will step up as well! One final thought: consider a check-up before & every so often during this challenge. Losing weight too quickly can wreak havoc on your thyroid. I'm looking forward to following your progress & musings along the way! Kudos to you, my friend! I know you can do it! XO

  7. I'm gfc friend, Beth Elderton, wishing you the best! One easy thing to do is replace 1/2 the meat in a recipe with finely chopped veggies. It seemed strange to me at first to make spaghetti sauce or taco meat with finely chopped broccoli, cauliflower, squash, etc, but it is surprisingly good! It tastes the same as whatever seasonings you us with the meat. It still has half the amount of meat, so you get the good flavor. At the same time, you get all that fiber to make you feel full and keep the body clean.

  8. Hey! Saw the post from my email newsletter and wanted to come over and encourage you:) I am actually starting a diet August 1st as well. Not really a "diet" but eating better, walking more and losing weight. I want to lose about 45-55 lbs. I also got in the Top Trainer DVD Set for review and I am really excited about using that! Some of them look really good:)
My tip is to slowly work things in. Take your time without pushing too hard. I am going to start having only water for at least 5 days a week. I don't drink much else but it will really help to drink the allotted amount of water I am supposed to.
I will be stopping back by every once in a while to see how you are doing:) Keep going!

  10. I'm doing HCG under a hellicoptering doctor (clearly needed when only consuming 500 calories a day)! I've already lost 17 lbs of body fat in 15 days. I'm ages lighter, I can feel it in my joints and my soul. I hate needles and I inject myself everyday! It had to get to a point where I hated shopping for clothes more than I hated needles. And I'm so glad, I'm so on track. You remember those yummie OMG devilish dougnuts in Napa? I wouldn't bat an eyelash at them now. Why? Because I have a waist again!!! As Kate Moss is supposed to have said, "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!" I'll let you know how I transition back to a normal calorie diet but for now, I'm not hungry, have great energy and feel on top of the world everyday when I weigh in a pound less!
