I so enjoy my time with Princess Emma. She is always showing me life in her young eyes. And I have to say, it opens up my eyes every day. Recently she helped me clean a friends house. (Yes even a Princess has to clean.) I was getting paid for it and I felt she should get compensated too. Princess Emma saved my back with her lil legs and smaller body. She helped was the baseboards of the house while I did the doors and furniture.
But when it came time for me to calculate my days wages, I asked Princess Emma if she wanted to be paid she hem hawed around. We finally came to a fair wage of a zip lock bag of candy. Now that she could understand. Not too well on the money part though. A 4 year old does know it takes money to buy things but not really the idea of what equals to what. So I am setting out to help her out. Remember I told you about Rock 'N Learn on Phonics. We started that program this fall. Well we also have the ability to use Rock 'N Learn's Money & Making Change DVD. Penny and Bill can help guide Princess Emma in what coins are equal too. And how to add up to have the right amount. Now I am starting her early as the usual age range for this DVD would be for first and second grade kiddos. But I feel sure we can start now and understand more than most 4 year olds would without the help of Rock 'N Learn. There are a few things I do wish to share with you. One is that you can get a 25% discount with the coupon code of SSA25 at the checkout of the Rock "N Learn site. That is always a plus to have a savings. Next is that you can enter to try and win their complete collection of learning DVD's on the main page of their site too!
Another fun thing we are doing this week is meeting Pocoyo. Now this is more on Princess Emma's level. Here is a DVD (also a TV show and game site too) that is geared to the preschool child. In Pocoyo's world we make music, solve puzzles and even watch an egg hatch. But these are shown through the clean crisp bright images of Pocoyo's world with his friends Ella, Pato, Loula and Sleepy Bird. We played around in the Pocoyo's World online, but I found it a lil slow even for Emma's attention span. She prefers the shows on the DVD. But many may enjoy the safe online world that is interactive with learning games and skills. I do see that it is a great way to teach young children computer skills.
Now we do have some wonderful news to share with y'all. I have a double giveaway that one winner will win both items. Rock 'N Learn is offering one Money & Making Change DVD and Pocoyo is offering 14 days of premium access to Pocoyo World online. I will do this in the usual fashion. Just leave a comment. That is all....I ask that you tell me what has been a way your child has opened up your eyes to learning on their level? Make sure you leave your email so I can contact the winner. You get an extra entry for following me on Google Friend Connect so be sure to do that and to leave an extra comment telling me so. I will announce the winner in two weeks.
DISCLOSURE: I received a complimentary copies of these DVD's to facilitate this review. No other compensation was provided.
One day not so long ago LeAnne pointed to a bird on T.V. and I said pretty bird and she said "not a bird, a Flamingo mom"! (this is when she was 2yrs old) Put me in my place that she knew what that bird was called. Today at 3 she's finding letters in everything... clouds, buildings, grass, and toys. It's fun!!

As a mom I try to teach my daughter everything I possibly can, but never thought she would correct me or even the librarian at story time. She had story time and the Librarian was talking about Bats. The Librarian asked this question " Tell me something about bats and what they do?" So, I was waiting what her answer would be and every child had their own special answer. She stood up and said " they sleep upside down" I was quite happy but at the same time surprised that she even said that. Loved it. It is nice to see that they are learning in their own special way and that they are growing up real fast

My daughter is two years old and we had gone to the childrens museum the other day. She walked right up to the 'play' door and flipped the switch, unlocked the door, opened the door, closed it, and then relocked the latch. I was shocked that she knew all of those without hesitation

I sometimes would forget how children need to learn on their own level. I'd often just try to teach them in a "dry" manner and they wouldn't get it. After repeatedly seeing them not get it, I learned a lesson to learn in more fun ways. Afterall, learning should be fun I learned:) annejk112233(at)yahoo(dot)com

ReplyDeleteEmma loves Pocoyo, we watch him at home! She is very quick about learning and we have started with change, mostly learning names of coins..not so much with value yet! This would help a lot!
